IQ and personality tests

Has anyone taken a personality or IQ test?

I did the personality thing a while back. I forget the name of the test (I should remember as I used to be a psych major), but it took like 2 hours to complete. It was funny 'cause the administrator was like "These are fairly interesting results...in fact, I've never seen results quite like this before". I guess I scored right down the middle on everything. I have no real personality traits at all. I'm like a fucking robot. The lady was concerned that I was a psycho or something. lol!

I've had my IQ tested a few times. Came out between 136 and 150...and while I think I'm fairly bright, I'm certainly not Einstien.

Anyway, these experiences just re-enforce my belief that psychology is not a science and that personality and IQ profilling is a bunch of bullshit.

My IQ is like 145 but I am lazy as fuck so I dont do shit. It doesnt matter if you are smart if you just sleep, eat, work, workout and watch football. Thats bullshit, they should distribute income on IQ results exclusively. I can tell you what about any pharmacuetical can do for your physique but I cant change a tire without instructions.

and KN - IQ is just the potential. the theory is the higher the number, the better the potential.
so if your intelligence is a bucket you can fill - you have a bigger bucket the higher the number.

but the stuff is mostly bs IMO.

i've taken several IQ tests, and they all have different means of gauging intellect.

some i've seen ask 'what is the definition of X (with a 6 syllable word no one uses as X)', some don't. some do comparisons, cognitive flexibility, etc.

ive taken about 7, i think the lowest ive scored is 126, the highest 160.

they should focus on individual smarts, individual learning styles, individual memory styles, etc.. i have a good reference/remote memory (i can remember minor details about 1000's of subjects w/o effort), but i can't build a birdhouse w/o having to take it apart 3 times because i fucked something up.

i have advanced remote memory but inferior cognitive flexibility. they don't tell you that in an i.q. test.

In college all my friends were amazed becuase I would draw pictures and sleep during class yet I would score higher than them on tests. I am always in trouble, and you are right I think everyone is an idiot.

As far as things becoming harder as i grow older...it is because I REALLY fuck off nowadays so I have to play catchup.

if only 1/100 people have a 140+ iq, why do 4 people on this thread (me, nubain, mp5, HS) have iq's in that range? i think in japan 1/10 of the pop has 130 iqs.

as i write this, this thread has 7 replies & 56 views. sooo, unless we got lucky and beat 8-1 odds, iq is bullshit.

That's an interesting statement. I would too say that an average asian IS smarter than average european or american. Actually I have never met an asian person who I could say is downright stupid. Maybe the aliens landed in middle-east and asia some thousand years ago. That would explain why jews and asians are smarter than average population.

that was in the guiness book of world records. i don't think iq is static. with drugs & mental exercise a person can accomplish more intellectually. that is all iq tests test really. memory & ability to exercise your mind.

those iq tests that you take on the internet aint worth a crap...

if you want a truly legitimate iq test.. take mensa's.. contact the mensa nearest you to see when the next time they are testing will be.

i've taken those internet iq tests and scored between 126-152.. but i took mensa's and scored in the 97th percentile (130 i think).. (you have to make it to the 98th percentile to be excepted).. but i.. like probably everyone else.. have fluctuations in my intelligence.. i.e. i'll score a 152 one day and a 126 the next.. all depends on the day, time, and place..

anyway.. that's the one truly legitimate iq test that you can take if you want to get a better idea of your abilities..

and btw.. that shit is no fucking joke.. 12 tests...7 minutes each (i think.. i kinda forgot.. guess i aint that smart).. and i think 50 questions per test.. it was crazy..

the one reason why i always wanted to join was because i am often descriminated against.. ok not really.. but you guys/girls have to admit that when you see a good-looking guy who is in very good shape.. you automatically coin him as dumb..

yeah. you're already in the 97th percentile though. smarter than most everyone else. if you want to quash those 'stupid' rumors, just make a fake mensa card with an old business card & some crayons. show that to anyone who calls you stupid.

its more the principle that mensa seems more like a pony show and that i think learning & intellect are too varied to be measured under one universal test. i have good remote memory. and i can learn faster when i use visualizations in my memory.

if i manage to combine the 2, and speed read at 1000 wpm (im at 500 or so now), then technically i would be learning 4-6x my old (4
years ago) rate.

kindof hard to explain what i'm trying to say. i'd rather be smart because i know how the mind works and can learn at 5x the speed of everyone else rather than be smart because i can pass tests that only make me look good (not that there is anything wrong with that, of course) that don't apply to my mind personally (i have above average remote memory, below average cognitive flexibility, learn better with visualization memory, am not sure which of hte gardner learners i am).

i don't know. just something about the test turns me off. i don't know what it is. i think the idea of a universal definition of intellect turns me off.

I scored identically. In my opinion, the brighter you are, the more dissociated you feel from the masses. I know of someone with an IQ in the 170's, I can only imagine how lonely that guy is. How many people do you think he can relate to?

That is EXACLTY me too. I find many things to be very, very tedious and my mind is always wandering. Especially in school. I was in the GT programs but always bored in regular classes, and homework was even worse. I mean, why the fuck would I want to do fucking 2 hours of homework after I just spent 7 hours at school. What the shit is that??
