Hey guys and girls,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I started doing some reading on these boards last night and decided to register today when I started to read all the great information thats packed in here.
My name is Ryan, I'm roughly 185 lbs, 5'10 and I'm 21. I've been lifting since I was around 16. However I've probably taken a grand total of 2 years off in those years due to a major shoulder injury. When I was 18 I got hit by a car(rollerblading back from the gym) and I did some damage to my shoulder. I rehabbed for about 4 months then started back up again. I overtrained my shoulders and chest and I developed another shoulder problem. This time my srapulatory muscles in my back were not strong enough due to overdeveloped chest muscles and underdeveloped back muslces(I was hunching forward). This caused my right shoulder blade to not be supported properly causing severe tendenitous in my shoulder. I couldn't work out for about 6 months. When i did go back I could barely lift any weight without massive pain, and was forced to tape my shoulder most of the time. I concentrated more on leaning up. Another 6 months went by and the shoulder was just aching, so I stopped all training. No cardio, no weights..,. and I put on 25 lbs of pure flab.
Recently I've been pretty lucky, I started hitting the weights again in late February of this year... I've gone from 197 lbs down to 182 and am lifting almost 50% more weight than before I injured my shoulder the first time. My shoulder is still agetated slightly, but I have learned to deal with the pain and my sports medicine doctor gave me some good stretches to keep my scrapulatory muscles loose which keeps things aligned properly and reduces pain.
Anyways, sorry about the lengthy introduction, I just wanted to say hi, and that I will be hanging around this board quite a bit, so now you know who I am if and when i talk
Thanks
