ironically the reason it looks f***ed up, is because people dont know how to make websites, so they cater them work with internet explorer specifically because they are too lazy to cater to general html standards.
luckily most of the big websites dont have issues now. hopefully one day ppl will learn how to write webpages.
I use Opera, Firefox and Mozilla depending on what I'm doing. Safari gets a lot of use too. I can't remember when I last opened IE. Why would you want to be testing beta versions of MSoft stuff when fully-working versions of more-mature browsers are available.
I hate the QT widget set Opera uses. It looks too candy'ish. Unless you're a Unix person you won't get that. Basically it's the look of the interface, dialog windows, check boxes, etc. To contrast it Firefox uses GTK2.
