The article stated the authorities had difficulty in identifying this source. He had been operating through secure e-mail and w-union. No texting or phone usage period. They way they finalized it was through his hushmail accounts. Hushmail sent the agency envolved stored discs of all his secured e-mail conversations. I tried finding it on the net but it is currently in this months Muscular Development.

i remember reading that to. but the downfall was the software he was using. i am not a computer guru but it had something to do with the java applet and whether u used it or not. apparently by using it or by not using it (cant remember which) it allowed hushmail to temporarily have the key to decrypt. i guess this was necessary in order for it to work. i think hushmail explains it on their website. everyone else that did the other option were not affected.

i think all the encrypted emails were on the discs and hushmail was able to retrieve those saved keys as well. so i guess the "temporary" storage of the key was not quite so temporary OR the government knew this and got a court order for hushmail to save all the keys they stored for this account????

This is old news. ALL of the UG boards I belong to will no longer accept mails through hushmail. Use another provider. The feds have their key and have almost total access to everything.
