Khalid Shaikh Mohammed Giving Up Bin Laden
Al Qaeda operations chief Khalid Shaikh Mohammed has given U.S. interrogators key information on the whereabouts of terrorist overlord Osama bin Laden, ABC News reported late Wednesday.
"Based on new information from Mohammed, officials believe bin Laden may be in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan, on the border of Iran," reports the network's Brian Ross and David Scott.
Mohammed was recently in direct communication with al-Qaeda members who were in close proximity to bin Laden, recently intercepted telephone calls indicate.
"This has strengthened our belief that we are going to get him," a U.S. intelligence official told the network.
"There have been numerous unconfirmed reports of sightings of bin Laden in the area on both sides of the Pakistani-Iranian border. Mohammed has extensive family roots in the area," ABC News said.
U.S. intelligence officials are said to believe "the noose around Osama bin Laden is tightening."
