inside or outside grip on deadlifts...?

DZLS

New member
advantages of either...?

i've done them both, but when i use the inside the legs grip, my lats are hella more sore the next day as opposed to the outside grip...

When going conventional, I use a grip right around shoulder width, which with my stance puts my hands just outside my legs. Sumo stance, well....your inside anyway. :)

There's far less lower back use in sumo since your torso is pretty close to upright. Unless you have some incredibly odd bodily proportions, anything other than inside on conventional and outside on sumo would be pretty much impossible to do with any degree of efficiency.

did you mean those opposite...?

I'm assuming he did. It'd be odd to try and lift with a grip outside your legs while in a sumo-stance, and vice versa for conventional.

Do what feels comfortable. I prefer a conventional stance, clean-gip deadlift.

Heh, of course...sorry about that. If you use a stance at or slightly wider than shoulder width, I guess you could do either, so just go with what works best for you.
