I had some bloodwork done by my doctor. It was a lipid test, as I have a family history of heart disease. By and large things looked good with total cholesterol at 140, triglycerides were excellent, LDL was good. But the doc said that my HDL levels are slightly low, 38 (should be above 40), and more concerning was the size of my HDL cells. I believe they were 12 (not sure of the units) where they should be bigger than 18.
I was wondering if anyone here knows what diet suppliments could help increase my HDL count, and if anything can be done to improve the HDL cell size. Doc says the size might be a genetic issue. He gave me some Niacin tablets to try, but I heard these can be hard on the liver.
