Calve shots usually hurt. There is a higher chance of hitting a nerve or a vein. There is also a good chance of you hitting the lymphatic system when injecting calves and this will cause tremendous swelling and will make your calve and ankle look like jello.

I've injected calves many with no problems.. Drew blod once. that's all.. Only use them when I have cycles with really short esters like tren ace though.. OR, for shit like test prop that hurt for a few days, if I don't want to immobilize my arms for the next day workout x)

Stick (no pun intended) with glutes, delts, and quads. Glutes are painless, period, but can be hard to get at. Delts are great and painless. Quads are painless and easy to do since both hands are free, but there are more blood vessels there. If you are doing test e, you will only need to inject twice a week, so the above is all you will need and more. I just finished a test e cycle the beginning of the year and I just hit quads pretty much the whole time.

I would stay away. A "hip shot" on the outside of your quads near where your hands lay at your sides when standing up is a good place if you want to avoid the glutes for some reason.

Calves have always been a spot I cant inject. Too much pain,,soreness,,and bruising even when I
used insulin pins.
