anyone heard about this.. thinking about trying it.. my friend uses it and is dark as poo..

The University of Arizona (UA) has developed an injectable synthetic hormone that changes skin color to mimic that of a natural tan. The drive for development is to reduce skin cancer in humans; however, the drug’s licensing company is eyeing cosmetic applications as well.

Dr. Dave Alberts, director of cancer prevention and control at the Arizona Cancer Center at UA, described the drug called Melanotan as a “natural sunscreen” formed by creating skin pigmentation.

The science behind Melanotan was discovered by UA researchers while they studied how frogs, lizards and rabbits change color. They wondered whether the same hormone in those animals could be modified for humans. Eventually they developed a synthetic version of a melanocyte-stimulating hormone secreted by the pituitary gland.

UA patented Melanotan and licensed it to Melbourne, Australia-based EpiTan.

EpiTan is expected to file a new-drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in a matter of weeks. If granted, the company would begin testing in the United States. However, Melanotan would not be available in the country for two years.

Studies in Australia have shown that individuals who get 10 injections in two weeks develop a tan that lasts at least two months--without sun exposure. The instances of sunburn among fair-skinned volunteers were cut in half.

EpiTan also is investigating Melanotan for its therapeutic use in treating skin disorders and diseases such as polymorphous light eruption, vitiligo, solar urticaria, albinism and psoriasis.

Recent press releases by EpiTan make it clear that it intends to focus on the worldwide medical purposes of its pending drug, and is banking on the even greater market of its cosmetic use in the American tanning market. EpiTan reports that its market potential is substantial and broad, and that its tanning product has the credentials of being a blockbuster

it doesnt increase your sex drive. the early version of the drug was known as the "barbie drug" and would simultaneously increase sex drive, tan you, and make you lose fat, but as per usual, the drug companies decided to instead develop and market 3 separate drugs to do each of those things (rather than the all in one version)

i havnt kept up with its development, but will look into it in a tic

Well $300 a year isnt that bad considering what a membership at a tanning salon will cost you anyway.
 
Some guy offered to give me some of that stuff for free at the gym. I turned it down. Got him really dark though and he says it has the effect of really increasing his libido. I didn't ask any specifics about that. The convo kind of creeped me out, because I had never met him before.
 
Evidently there are two versions, Melanotan and Melanotan II. It's the II that has the aphrodisiac properties. The aphrodesiac has also been separated out into a separate compound, Bremelanotide.
 
I bought a commercial HPLV spray tan system for $399.00....most of the tanning solution I have bought for it is 25.00-35.00 per quart or 75.00-99.00 per gallon.....usually get about 6-8 tans per quart.... it works well..just as good as mystic tan at about $25.00 per session.........

huh... i didn't actually read it- but thats interesting! The self tanners don't really work on me unless i use the darkest kind, every day. then i look orange. :(

I know, I have to use the darkest kind too. But every time I do it, something goes wrong and its not even. If I use mystic tan, makes me look dirty :(

yeah, thats how they are on me too. even the jergin's glow shit- doesn't do a thing. I bought some bronzer- its not a self tanner- just a bronzer. nomatter how little I use, it looks like I smeared mud on my face. its very attractive.

lol..yeah, very attractive :lmao: Thats exactly why I hate when summer time comes. I cant use it only on my face and neck :(

other way round.

the first one (the original) is a long amino acid chain that does all 3 (tan, sex, fat loss) while the second version (newer) is a ring amino acid structure that only tans.

theyre not too hard to get as a research chemical. any peptide production lab can make them, and the actual amino acid sequence is available online (dont know where it is, i had it earlier today, go to melanotan.org and look around)

as far as i know, its an easy amino acid to make (15 bases long) without any fancy folding of the structure, so it should work.

the though of injecting a peptide research chemical made in a place like china though....shit....dont know about that one....

Do they make a version that makes your hair turn curly too?
 
FG & stilleto if you have a place in your area that does it try airbrush tanning very important when using self tanners that you exfoliate really well that is how you end up with the "dirty" look.

The third version is only for a tan and fat loss. The "Ken" drug.
 
Oxo is the only way to tan with drugs

best way to tan

get base tan
spray tan 3 times a month with 2 tans a week = best color
only tan face EOD

This is actually quite old news... originally developed for people to help avoid skin cancer... and now it's a barbie and ken drug... there will be a cure for baldness before cancer... i love humans.
