In the True Spirit of the Season, Karma Blessings to All

I Told You So ...
EF VIP
Whether people like to acknowledge it or not, tonight marks the beginning of one of the most sacred pagan Sabbats, Samhain. It marks the end of summer, the time of the final harvests, a time to finalize preparations for the coming winter, and most importantly, a time to remember our dearly departed who are no longer with us. Amidst the revelry of parties and candy gorging, take a moment and give a thought (or a prayer) to those people (and animals) who are no longer physically in your life.

Now that I've given you the (true) spiritual message for the day, line up for 110% Karma hits :qt:

Blessed Samhain, people.

+1

Sounds strikingly similar to All Souls Day, which is also this weekend.
Well, that's not accidental, or it's coincidental, whichever :whatever:

I'm looking at a chart in a book entitled "Sabbats" by Edain McCoy. There are no less than ten other cultures that celebrated a holy day similar to Samhain at approximately the same time of year. These cultures ranged from Native American to South Pacific to Celtic.

Essentially, long before the eight main pagan Sabbats melded into the current traditions, "pagans" (native cultures, primarily) the world over celebrated many of their solar holidays and festivals at times that roughly corresponded with each other.

There is a group mind at work in human animals, we're not as aware of it as we used to be, there's too much technological interference, too much focus on Do It Now, but people used to have their fingers on the pulses of the world, so to speak, both seen and unseen. The simple fact is this is a time of year that is conducive to connecting with your ancestors, which is where all the veneration for the dead came from :qt:

(I'm giving a class tomorrow on this stuff so I need all the practice I can get guys)

I  you MuscleMom! Who could disagree with anything you said? All good stuff from a great gal! I certainly don't have any hate for Halloween at all and never thought of it as a sort of "memorial day" for those who have past.

Have a good one. :bigkiss:

Sounds Like Witchcraft to me

It's a karma thread. Probably wouldn't get any traffic if I put it in the deep freeze that the spirituality/religion forums are.

If people pick up some interesting facts and maybe think about their passed over loved ones then they just get an extra bonus.

Besides, like I said in your k message, I'm not a witch, I'm a pagan who practices wicca.

It's good "spirited" fun to me (pun). I mean, really, eventhough I'm a big ol' Jesus lover what good does it do to devalue you, your holiday, your tradition, :whatever: ?

I learned a long time ago that narrow mindedness will get you nowhere in this world. Promise not to be offended when I send you a Merry Christmas K note! :lmao:
