Can steroids damage your immune system???

Have recently come off a cycle and have been getting a lot of colds and things ever since.

Steroids weaken immune system.

Although I do not understand the mechanism behind this.

I understand that for corticosteroids,which main function is to suppress the immune system,but I can not understand how anabolic steroids would do such a thing.
