Banned
I'm thinkin - designer clothes and fashion shows
I'm thinkin - all my albums goin platinum and gold
I'm thinkin - Jaguars and a Bentley, Rolls
I'm thinkin - bein rich before I'm 24
I'm feelin - wood grain all in my tinted truck
I'm fillin - all my teeth up with princess cuts
I'm fillin - jugs up, no mo' empty cups
I'm feelin - like I'm worth 10 million bucks
And I know - I wear a watch, yo it was made from a game
And I know - my rims chop like the blades on a plane
And I know - yo baby mama still givin me brain
And I know - that ain't platinum, that's a silvery chain
And I make - nothin but hits when I step in the booth
And I make - rainbows when the sun reflect on my tooth
And I make - DVD's light up in my coupe
I think I feel I know I make money, how bout you?

And we like to floss, all my diamonds gloss
I represent the dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty South
(This is the way we ball)
And we ridin blades, Jags and Escalades
We third coast born but we all Texas made
(This is the way we ball)

For those who are wondering, its "The Way We Ball" by Lil Flip.

Are you a big rap fan, Engi? Who do you like?

And GWL, quit hatin on a playa.

hahaha...I have that one on right now...been listening to that album a lot lately.

Yeah, I'm a huge rap fan, I like all music but rap has always been number one with me.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of eminem, 50 cent, w.c., westside connection, too short, ice cube, snoop, dre, nwa, notorious big, bone, tupac, warren g, nate dogg, doggpound, etc...

I like most all rap, but it seems that I like stuff that comes from the west coast the most..not sure why, but it's always been that way, ever since I first heard ice cube and too short waaay back in 4th grade.

Who do you like?

Rap-wise: Wu-Tang, Dre, Eminem, N.W.A., Tech N9ne, Kid Rock, Nappy Roots, Big Tymers, Westside C., Snoop, Eazy E, D12, Twista, Tela, Petey Pablo, Pastor Troy, Miracle, Lil Jon & TEB, Field Mob, Dirty, 50 Cent

I feel the West Coast was at the forefront for a long time, but the South & Midwest are really gaining alot of ground.

Yeah, I think they're gaining a ton of ground...at first I didn't care for it too much, but it grew on me.

I downloaded a bunch of stuff by Tech N9ne based on a recommendation you gave a while ago...I thought it was really good stuff.

It does seem like west coast stuff is stagnating a little...at least the stuff I look out for. I mean, snoop has had a few good songs out lately...but nothing like when he first came out. Cube & Dre haven’t put much of anything out lately. I'd love to see a "new" NWA (snoop/dre/cube/ren) I know they tried a couple years ago, but it ended up falling through.

Snoop has some decent stuff on his new album ("Ballin", "Beautiful", "Batman & Robin", etc.) The whole NWA thing was supposed to work, but Cube was too busy with films and Dre with the Up in Smoke Tour & some albums. But recently, Cube signed to Aftermath, so it looks like it might happen in the next year or so. Snoop/Xzibit have some small beef, so I think thats been limiting Snoop & Dre's time together recently.

A lot of hot stuff is coming out of the south right now, and Cash Money is alright even after losing most of its stars. Master P is trying to reconstruct No Limit, and lots of other solo stars are coming up.

As for the Midwest, Eminem, Nelly, & Kid Rock are all pretty much running the charts, so no one can doubt. Tech N9ne has the skill to be famous soon and you cant forget Bone Thugs, Twista, and other midwest talent.

So, these songs about how rich they are- are they the songs that MADE them rich, or were they poor when they made the songs about being rich and they just bullshitted so they could GET rich? What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Neither in this case.

Of course there are rappers that have rapped about having shit before they did, but look at someone like Dr. Dre. NWA wasnt rapping about bling. The Chronic wasnt about cars. Dre occaisionaly raps about being rich now, but its not all the time. He's probably worth around $250 million, so I guess he can, right?

$250 million seems like a lowball guess, but I guarantee his NWA & early contracts werent that lucrative. Still, he's now a music industry GIANT. I'd say he could have as high as $500 million.

You and I dont have $250 million, Cas, so I personally would consider that rich, especially in terms of the music industry. Sure, Bill Gates has like $50 billion that would put the money Dre has to shame, but Dre made more last year than any other artist or GROUP in the industry except U2, who made like $61 million to Dre's $52 million (without touring, unlike U2, who also has to split it among band members).
