I love to learn, I really do................but compared to about 85% of the people around my age, .........I think I need a brain transplant. I'm seriously thinking of taking some type of schooling, for a certification in something. I need to expand my knowledge more. If I were to go to a regular college, #1) I feel its too late for me right now, #2) don't have too much $ (unless I get a loan or ask ma and pa) and #3) I have NO idea what the hell I'd be going for. Can someone give me some insight on this subject. I hate feeling like a big dummy:(

Don't say that about yourself. That isn't cool ok! I bet your very smart. Women sometimes are to complexed.

Its never too late and you're never too old to go back to school, Go to a local community college...they are generally inexpensive and good to get your grounding in, take humanity courses or general studies for the first semester, and really search out what you enjoy doing... it takes a bit of soul searching and even some trial and error, but think about it this way....learn something that 5 - 10 years down the road you are : A) gunna still be interested in B) something that is challenging and C) most importantly do what is going to make you the happiest.

College is not needed to acquire knowledge however, pick up some books and start reading :) if you need a list of good books i would be happy to give you quite an extensive listing of them.

And you are not stupid!

Think about some Continuing Education courses at a community college....great resource for certificates, retraining and CEU's.

Just a thought......

You'll be amazed how things can chage when you go to college. I have witnessed some of the dumbest people in high school goto college and really succeed. It is all about the attitude and what you put into it. Also, I have seen studies where you look at the GPA of students and the older the student in college the higher average GPA they have. It is because most are there because they want to be there instead of some kid that is just there to party. You can do it....plus if you go to EMU it is cake.

I hardly have any energy to respond but here it is: Stop trying to fall into a specific niche, it doesn't matter, it's how you present yourself. If you want to learn, read a book. You want to be certified get certified, you can make up your own mind. Stupid people depend on others.

Just get Nekkid!!! :p j/k

Pauly should be done with all of his stuff soon, right?? U will then have your sugar daddy and you can continue to write/sing...

Alright first off...slow your roll honey..don't get ahead of yourself and create a negative spiral of pessamitism, a negative attitude will find you nothing but laziness, failure and lack of production. Start taking some classes at a local community college and start getting some credits in some liberal art classes that you will be able to transfer or use as credits towards your associates or bachelors. DO NOT worry about your timetable for success right now. Go out and get the exposure to some education which will help you get a better idea of just what it is that you want to do with your life, expose yourself to other people with goals and aspirations to succeed, it can be very influntial. Find out what other people are doing, how they like it, what it entails, talk to people, explore opportunity's go out and live your life taking in your daily experiences one at a time and draw from it a learning experience that you can continue to apply the person you are and the person you're becoming...chill out, enjoy it and keep growing, and for the love of god..don't beat yourself up and set unrealistic expectations for yourself, success is a journey not a destination :D ;)

There are so many things I would like to do.................
I want to be some type of counselor, I want to work with babies, children, I want to have my own business, I want to work on cars............AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH................so many things to do, so little time and even more little $$$......................
I know about the brokerage business, and the trucking business, but what good is that shit for???!! I wasted 3 1/2 years on brokerage from the time I was 17, and I hated it! Now I'm here, only because I needed a damn job.............:spit:

Grrr...............I'm not necessarily knockin' myself down, I have faith in myself, but it sucks because I feel STUCK.

I really want to continue working on my music because I know if I work hard I can go somewhere, but I need to think more realistically. ...................even though I love singing and its the one thing that I can do very well and its a gift.

That's my point already you have accomplished so much without even being able to reflect on how well you've already done. Now just try to focus on one thing get some more experience within that industry take some more courses and just continue to get experience and then all of your experience and expertise will in time fall in place where it may.

I'd suggest taking some classes in education, psychology, social service, english, and maybe some business management courses. These are all good underlying courses for a broad spectrum of knowledge which could be applied to all those things you hope to pursue...Good Luck.

As far as the car thing goes...chill out michigan girl...lol ;)

Not for nothing, but maybe you should get a job were you would only have to work one or two days a week such as waitressing or dancing (non-nude still makes great money) and then with the time saved you could go to school or have the free time to find out what you really want to do. If you want to open your own business then college is not necessary. College is good if you want to work up the corporate ladder, but if you want to own the ladder it is not necessary. Trust me I have my MBA and I still am confused and wish I took a different route. Look before you leap b/c you do not want to go to school and find out that you do not want to do what you have been learning. Also one last piece of advice. School is great if you come out with a trade: engineer, doctor, lawyer, but if you come out with a general degree you will find out that you are not that much of a better or demanding position than when you started out...

:lmao: Thanks! ha ha ha...........my '99 car is falling to pieces, and I don't know what the fuck what is!

And thanks everyone! I'm going to see what I can do this year as far as some type of schooling goes.............I would really like to take some classes. Thank you very much! (guess it works, ask and you shall receive!)

Pauly and I were seriously talking about this..........BUT, I'm too damn clumsy, and I wouldn't remember 15 drinks if my life depended on it..........I'm dumb when it comes to math too.

Azia...Azia...Azia....

It is NEVER too late to go back to school and learn. Don't forget that. I can understand money could be a problem...was/is for me...apply for student loans/grants/etc...most loans you don't have to pay back until 6 months after you graduate.
Like Nat. Anabolic said...pick something you know ur gonna' like 10 years down the road. It took me FOREVER to figure out what I really wanted to do/my calling/whatever...after numerous different "majors" and 6 years of freaking school, I have finally figured it out...lol. what is sad is i don't even have an associates degree outta' all the BS (talk about stoopid.:) ...4 1/2 years ago, I thought I had decided on court reporting, but I mainly chose that strictly for the money..that's all that mattered...i wanted to make boo-coo's of money...well, after a loooooong ass time and a buuuuunch of f*ing money, I knew for a fact that was NOT what I would be happy doing...I actually knew it 2 years into it, but listened to everybody saying I needed to finish since i put so much time/money into it...so what did i do? stayed with it. I finally quit listening to people and thought about it long and hard and now i know what i want to be when i grow up...:)

just figure out what it is you want to do and JUST DO IT!!! don't worry about the money situation...that'll all work out. if you're not sure about your major or whatever, just go to a community college and take your basics...that can't hurt you one bit...you'll at least have those out of the way...it's worth it, i promise.
hope this helped a bit....:)

what are your strengths in terms of what you did at school?

when i was in high school and college they made us do this questionairre and it highlighted the courses that would fit my interests best. i already knew vaguely what i wanted to do, but a lot of people i knew found the results intersting. maybe do one of them?

Learn to bartend and then put yourself through school during the day. I know girls who make 300.00+ dollars a night and all they do is pop tops off beer bottles at a beer well in a club.

Dont' fall in the trap of easy $$$ because you can't do that forever and then you will really be stuck.

I was highly interested, and always scored high, in the English classes (reading, essays, etc.), always was brilliant with anything that had to do with Creativity, and I loved Science (but back then I really didn't pay attention (like I can now).

AZIA!!!!!

It's NEVER too late to go to school. I got my bachelors degree when I was 29!! I'm in grad school right now....

As an adult you are pretty much guaranteed a student loan (I'm not sure exactly how old you are, but you have to be over 21, right?) And, yeah, you'll have to pay them back, but not until AFTER you graduate, and even then you can apply for an extension.

I had NO CLUE what I wanted to do when I STARTED school, I just knew I didn't want to do what I was doing at the time for the rest of my life.

I feel ENRICHED (yes, enriched :) ) by my educational experiences, and not necessarily because they helped me get my current position. I just grew as a person throughout the entire experience. I LOVE being a student…

GO RIGHT NOW to your local college and talk to an advisor :)

If you have a community college near you...start there! I got my associates degree from a community college because it was SOOOOOOO much cheaper and my momma wasn't paying CRAP for me....

GOOD LUCK!!!!! :)

VDL

P.S. For God's sake you're NOT stoopid.

I know a girl here who is taking a private investagators course.
She's like 3/4 of the way done, (not licenced yet!) and she's been doing work already!!..(off the record).

What she has been doing a lot of is catching men cheating on their wives/girlfriends. She says she loves it. That she'll probably make about $250/day when she gets licenced and that theres more work than investagators right now.

(and this is in a small town of about 100,000)

just an idea

All in all, stop talking like this. Your not stupid!
It's never too late to go back to school. You might be suprised to see the age of some of the people in what ever classes you take.
There are always grants and such floating around.
Is ther something in particular that really" floats your boat", if so look into it! That should be your first step! Then the money. You'll find out soon enough that age will not be a factor!

best of luck sweetie!

Thank you VDL...................."you are my sunshine......." :bigkiss:
I'm 22.............I was thinking about a community college.......I could start talking to counselors I guess..................

This sounds VERRRRRRRRRY interesting...........but honestly, thats stepping in Pauly's territory, I do not want to be intruding on something he's been heading towards for the past few years. I respect that he has worked so hard to get even where he is now from school, I give him a lot of credit, he is an extremely smart man (I look up to him continuously).

Think of it like this....

Your whole life will revolve around your 20's. They are the best times in your life. If you go to school and that makes you happy.. go for it. Just remember.. you are in your lifes prime. So do WHATEVER it is that makes you the happiest. Forget what people expect you to ... do ONLY what you want to do. After 29.. it is all over.

What is up? Go back to school it's never too late. My wife just started back and she is 32. I couldn't be more attracted to her for doing it. Don't ever get that down on yourself. Also, I think women get more attractive as they get older. Maybe there will be a curve where that no longer applies but my wife is more beautiful now than when she was 25, I am sure you are as well.

I would love to hear you sing! to you have anything you can send via email? or anything posted on the web? I'm a singer myself! Lets start a rock band! :D

I finally know what I want to do with my life!! It took me 3 years after highschool to know what I wanted to do. And thats FINE. I just turned 23, and I have a couple credits under my belt, but I won't get my degree until I'm 26 or so. But thats cool with me! At least I didn't waste my time getting a degree that I would never use.

Go to school...it is never too late. Take a variety of subjects until you find something that really interests you. Also non-traditional students tend to perform way better in that they take it more seriously.

I'm too tired to read thru what everybody said, but all I have to say Azia girlie, is you've shown how faaaaar from stoopid you are by asking questions and wanting to learn more about yourself and life. Got it? :)

OMG dude, you have got to be kidding! Tell me you are just fucking around here.

Life doest revolve around your 20's at all. The 20's are a time where you are just learning about life. You learn in school, you are just learning how to have real good sex, (don't get me wrong I realize you have lots of sex in the 20's, but that doesnt mean you good at it) you learn everything, but you are not really good at all that much until you are in your late 20's (25+). Not to mention, you are either just getting into the job market, or have only been in for a few years.

By the time you are 30, you can have everything you ever wanted if you play it right. You will be soooo much better at sex, you will have money to enjoy all the shit you couldn't when you are in your 20's.

If the 20's were my prime, I would have killed myself. Sure, I got laid a lot, went to school, did all kinds of drugs and had a shitload of fun. But now where near the amount of fun I can have now (I am only 31 btw). Now I do everything that I did then, and I do it 100 times better! Now I don't have to party at school, I can take off and travel anywhere I want. I smoke the best pot, have the best sex, have a hot wife, great car, awesome job, etc....

If you ask me (and I agree with Azia on this one) life begins at 30. If your lucky, it really starts at 25.

BTW - Azia, you are far from stupid. Unlike other on this board, I have spent time with you in person. 4 days to be exact, and I will say that every moment was fun and pleasurable. You exude confidence, brilliance and sexuality. You are just starting out in your life. I say go to school, follow your dreams, and be anything that you want. Get a solid foundation and also pursue your singing career on the side. You are a multi talented woman and whatever you choose to do with your life, will be the right choice. Your an incredible woman and I am very happy to have been able to share time with you, and Pauly is a very lucky man as well.

Kronk...
Right.. you are learning.. things are fun.. things are exciting. By the time you hit 30. what is left?? Shitty diapers? 30 is the start of old age. When gray hair sets in.. it is time to cash in. Like it or not.

No diapers for me. To me 40 is when I am going to start mentally feeling old, but I still wont be.

Maybe, kronkette and I are the exception, I dont know. But for me, the fun is just starting! Sex, drugs, gear (lol) and the money for everything. I guess when I am laying back in Jamacia this year at Hedo, with my hot wife, I will sit back and think...oh shit..my life is over, guess its time to cash in!

I hear ya bro, I see your point, I just happen to disagree. Who gives a shit anyway, life is what you make it! See ya.

AMEN!!!!!

People who rush through their twenties may feel trapped at thirty... But it gets WAY better in your thirties and forties too if you play your cards right..

Hey Azia...don't worry so much about money.

The best finanical aid packets are for people who cannot actually pay for school.....and lots of schools are actually looking for people who did not jump directly from high school.

Take a class or two at your nearest college..Intro to Psych or sociology are really easy and if you ever apply full time....schools will accept the credits......

No offense....but singing should be a side project. Two really good friends of mine are in bands....and they wish they had gone to school too. One is in 6-gig.....and I forgot the other bands name but they just signed a record deal too...Jerimiah something or other...

Azia, I'm a lot older than you. Read to this and take it really seriously.

I have seen the tragedy often of people not gaining job skills in life. You are not stupid, and you need to look at a long term career. You are ONLY 22... a baby... and the time to get your education is now.

I've seen many people party through their 20s and into their 30s without building the foundation of any kind of career. They can happily get away with it while they are young and cute... but cute fades... and opportunites do not always magically open.

Make your own life.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Your only as stupid as the people and the vibe you surround yourself with...
Set your goals and stretch yourself to reach them...
You must see yourself succeeding in order to obtain
that mark....

I guess I better get a move on if life is over at 30...
I'll be finishing school at 30 and going on to more...
School keeps me in a positive learning mind frame...

Never to old to learn some more about life because if you know it all by 30, you are the poop!!!!

Have a great weekend!!!!

What about providing singing lessons?

HEY!!! That might be a cool thing for you! Do you like kids??? You might want to look into teaching kids music! Even if it's just in an after school or weekend program...that might fulfil you in many ways!!

just a thought :)

Azia, you need to get moving. I did exactly what you are doing and I regret it. Go to OCC and take one class a semester if you can't afford more. If it is hard, then stay at one per semester. It might take eight yrs to get the degree but yo'll have the damn thing. I wish I had someone telling me advice like this when I graduated or was 20 or 25. I'm 37 in June and doing well enough to pass on college but that was all luck. You don't need to know what you want, just start takingclasses and you'l pick a path soon enough. Go for it baby!
