IDM = Intelligent Dance Music. A very elitist sub-genre of electronic music. In addition to BOC, it includes bands/projects like Autechre, Arovane, Two Lone Swordsmen, Richard Devine, Funkstorung, etc. The music is usually characterized by unique yet highly danceable (if you're high enough ) rhythmic structures and an emphasis on original melodies, often evoking Teutonic melodies of such electronic giants as Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.

Funkstorung are in the league of their own; they're much better than Autechre now (and much better live - I've seen both groups play live. They're also much more laid back and really cool to hang out with.)
