Shit like this makes me happy I came here, Costa Rican elections were last year(and for the first time a woman got elected...ick...) and on May 8 the new government took charge, less than 20 days later congress approved their very first project which was a raise for themselves from ¢2,5 mill to ¢4,3 mill, so while an average good slary there is $500 these fuckers just gave themselves a raise to about $7800 and they JUST GOT IN.... fucking ridiculous, I know it aint perfect here but I dont see shit like this happening here....

The difference here is our elected officials will turn-down a raise then funnel money back to themselves through their district via earmarks.

The problem with our system is they'll move millions (or billions) just to take a cut of it for themselves. It would probably be cheaper for taxpayers to pay them directly.

WTF!? I dont down it but where did that come from?

Same thing happens in the UK as well; MPs vote on their pay rise. Fuck knows why they actually need a wage of £60-70'000 / year considering many claim £1-200'000 / year in "expenses".

they get "contributions" to their re-election funds as well, most total in the millions... when they retire, they take it with them...

Wow a freaking miracle just happened and due to appeals there will be a second debate on it and the President just warned them that if they approve it she will exercise her Veto rights :o
