my friend for about 10 years now...just told me hes gay. i mean we have been through it all, and i know..somehow we have to stay friends..i just...im devasted. you guys might know him as " splat" on the boards..but i know him as matt, the kid who stood up for me in high school, the kid who got detentions with me, the kid who went to vegas with me and lost all his money. i guess this is more of a vent...sorry

well hes not sexually interested in you, that seems clear so hes still your good friend. Just disregard his prefrence in the bedroom if you can and dont go on a double date with him, you might lose you appetite.
I would be uncomfortable too, but I hope that I could overcome it and still remain friends.
 
Bro, I know it might be tough to understand...but think about how tough it was for him to tell you. I've seen splatt on here and he seems like a good guy, so let that be your judge of character. You might think I don't know anything about this, but I do. You see, my brother's gay. Trust me, it threw me for a loop for awhile and then I told him "whatever you are in your mind, that's up to you. But to me, you're my brother and I love you and that's all there is to it". You might feel like you're let down or whatever, but you're friend is not gone, at all. That's all I really know to say to you man because I know at the time...I didn't really want to hear much. All I know is to say that he hasn't changed as a person. Don't let his choice of lifestyle affect that. Take care bro.

Well for all he has done for you, the least you can do for him is to have sex with him! If that's what he wants from you! Nothing is what it seems! Even "Great Friends" have a catch! I mean really what are friends for if your not willing to get fucked by them?

It's ironic that the "Homo" by far made the best homo jokes about you! I on the other hand was just trying to help! But then again I'm not an expert in Homo/Hetero friendships!

The other thing is that straight men have this delusion that gay men all want to sleep with them. He probably has no sexual interest in you whatsoever. He no doubt sees you as a brother. Would you want to sleep with your sister?

My best friend is as straight as they come. Typicqal New Zealand male, rugby, beer, female ass chasing guy. He was traumatised when I came out to him too. Then he started wondering what the hell he was traumatised about. Now he doesn't give a damn.

You'll get over it. It is your own discomfort with homosexuality which is the issue, not your friend. This isn't really about him at all.
 
That has happened to me and it tends to throw one for a loop. The thought had never occurred to me since he went out of his way to talk and act straight including having girlfriends and even a fiance.

Keep the friendship rolling or you WILL regret it. I think what bothered me was more the lies and deception than his sexual preference. Not sure really.

We no longer talk but that was not the reason.....friends come and go. Especially AAP's.
 
I've never had a gay friend but that's just because they always seem to have much different personalities, maybe it's just the ones I've talked to.

man I remember when I was in highschool and we'd talk about how we'd freak out if one of our friends came out as being gay. now that I'm in my late 20's I'm like... who gives a shit. be gay. fine.

hopefully your gay friend has a sense of style and can help you pick out clothes and shit just as long as they don't come from International Male.
