I'm getting a digital camera

I got a bonus of $100 from work but could only use it to buy something online (my company is too retarded to actually give you $100). So I found a digital camera on sale and bought it. I got an Olympus D380 which lists for $320 (so they say) but was on sale for $180. I'll have to pick up some rechargable batteries/charger and a 64 MB SmartCard but that shouldn't run me more than another $100.

The only thing I worry about is that it won't run with Windows NT. I don't have a home pc right now, just the one at work and it runs NT.

Specs:
2.1 Megapixel with 1600 x 1200 resolution. (Other resolutions down to 640 x480 also available).
Olympus lens for photo-quality images. Focus free. f/4-f/8 (equivalent to 35mm on 35mm cameras). 1/2 to 1/2,000 sec shutter speed.
5X digital zoom. 10" macro mode for close-up shots.
Movie Mode (Quick Time) mode to capture up to 60 sec (160 X120). Sequential shooting up to 5 images.
Saves to industry standard JPEG to internal 2Mb memory (1-5 images). Optional 8Mb SmartMedia card stores 5- 47 images.
Sepia plus Black & White effects. Panorama feature upto 10 images (Olympus brand cards requried).
ISO: AUTO (100-400 equivalent).
AutoConnect USB for real easy downloads (no driver needed).
1.6" color TFT LCD monitor with brightness adjustment for shooting or reviewing pictures
Bright optical viewfinder.
6 mode flash auto (low & back-light), on, off, red-eye, slow-synch and slow-synch +red-eye. Up to 9ft range.
Date and time calendar.
Support W98/ ME /2000 /XP and Mac OS 8.6-9.1- USB port required.
4.8" W x 2.6" H x 1.8" D - Weight 6.7 oz.

I'll bet you are safe in buying it....

I have a Sony and it came with special instructions for people who may have Windows NT. Actually before I bought my Sony, several of the cams said WINDOWS NT compaitable.

Olympus cameras rock...

I have a Camedia 3.3 zoom
Paid $499 for it and worth every penny.

The Lenses are the main difference. Very clear and fast...
Go get some rechargable AA lithium batteries if your camera takes them.
These things eat batteries like Smalls eats melba toast

enjoy, and post up Nude Pic's of Genie ASAP...

NT's main issue that I can think of that the camera would take umbrage at is that it doesn't play nice with the USB (usually meaning it ignores it).
so if there is another connector or something, then use that.
or there are other options as well.
or perhaps there is a newer patch to NT that allows USB - I haven't used NT in awhile.

I doubt Genie will let me post nudes of her. However, my poop will not have any objections. I want to walk around my office and take pictures of all the fat people and geeks so I can post them and make fun.

The only feature I don't see (maybe I'm missing it) that I hope it has is the timer function. That way we can set the timer and both be in the picture. Plus, I can take more pictures of my butt when I'm alone. :D

every camera has a timer - even some of the cheap ass disposable ones. I'm sure it has a timer.

as for your coworkers - take the pics and if they ask why you are doing it, say you are working on a web page to help boost morale.

Most of the Camera's built this millennium don't have Serial connectors, only USB.

Show me a Digicam over 1 MegaPix with a Serial connection and I'll eat it.

well, not really, ..but I strongly doubt I'll have to.

Great minds think alike. I'd already thought of that but the main people I want to bag on are my immediate coworkers and they know better. I think I'll take it to our corporate picnic and get them when they're all trying to look cool in shorts. That should occupy the hour 1 plan to be there.

I thought NT and USB were never compatible. did one of the service packs change that?

that is what I was saying - I don't think it is gonna like the USB.

also - fro - I swear on my life this was at a company meeting - Diesel3D can back me up on that.

Read The Fucking Manual... *smacks forehead* :FRlol:

I'll just consider this a challenge. It'll give me something other than work to do.

yeah yeah rub it in.... i have a cam that is essentially on par with that and cost me a bloody fortune.

Well, I still do have to buy a 64MB memory card and rechargable batteries if that makes you feel any better.

And oh yeah, it might not even work on the only pc I have access to. We'll see how smart of a purchase it was. :D
