On vacation I read:

ODD THOMAS and now I am about 1/2 thru BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON

Great stuff and his sense of grammatical humor is unbelievable.

Next I am gonna hit up:

*The Face
*The Taking

And I will be totally up to date in reading every single one of his novels.

Anyone read either or these yet ? Comments ?

I haven't read any of those. What is By the Light of the Moon about?

I'm reading a book called Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers

NY Times bestseller. it's a humorous documentary of how cadavers have been used in the past and in modern times. not that far into it, but so far it's discussed how they're used to teach medical students anatomy and for plastic surgeons to practice on, the experiments done on them to monitor decomposition for use in forensics, and their use as test crash dummies. pretty morbid sounding book, but the writer has a good sense of humor and it's pretty fascinating if you can stomach it.

the face was really good, but i haven't read any books that were as good as lightning by him. That was his pinnacle IMO

Lightening was #1.. Watchers was #2 IMO

On the road, on a hot Arizona night, Dylan O'Conner is overpowered by a stranger who injects him with an unknown substance. All he's told is that he's the "carrier," not of a disease but of something wondrous that will transform his life in remarkable ways -if it doesn't kill him in the next twenty-four hours.

Now Dylan, his autistic brother, Shep, and another "carrier," a young woman, are swept into a desperate search for the shattering truth of what they are and what they might become. But first they must elude those sent to destroy them.

Their only chance to survive is to discover the meaning of the messages that Shep, with precious time running out, begins to repeat, about a man who does his work BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON.

*************

Lots of unbelievable funny lines and descriptive comments ala Koontz on every page...

One part the autistic brother starts saying all the polite replacement words for shit... Like 2 dozen funny words and combos ..

I read Odd Thomas. I agree, he is a very talented author. I look forward to reading more off his stuff now that I am back in the states.

I've read everything he and his sudo's have written and I have yet to find a Dud.. Lightening, Watchers, Intensity should be read for sure in that order..

Hit up your local library as most will be there if you can..
I Rarely buy books anymore they are so expensive..

I use to love his books as well as stephen kings...
Lightning, watchers and strangers were the winners. Then after about 10 years since I last read him, about 6 months ago I picked up a koontz book called one door away from heaven. it was crap! really annoying book. turned me off him for good.

Well, not crap, but I will say it was one of his worst..
His style changed dramatically with that book.. Now its a mix of the
old tense drama and some new good artistic writing using interesting metaphors and descriptive language.. Like a classic novelist would use..

I'll try to bring it in tommorow and post up what I mean..

o i forgot strangers was my 2nd favorite by him. i read the dan brown books minus the da vinci code and IMO he is a better storyteller then koontz.

have you read "intensity"? that is the best of any book i have ever read(besides harry potter) i could NOT put that book down

Yes.. Rated #3 on my scale above..
TV Movie was also pretty good.. for an adaptation..

I liked the first 4 potters, really good reads, but I would not say they were the best books ever, just page turners... nothing more.

I think I may have to give intensity a try, am going on holiday to europe for a month from next week so I may take it along...

Ok, I really loved the potter books but as I said above, they were page turners but nothing brilliant.
Are you into fantast books?

some fantasy books i am :) but i could understand harry potter more than any book i have ever read.....maybe that means i have a 13 year old brain span?

Maybe

Just kidding. I recommend Dune. not for 13 year olds, but after the first 50 or so pages your life will stop. nothing will matter until you have finished the book.
