ignorant about fat loss

LITTLE FREAK

New member
I have been lifting for a long time and want to lose fat. I have never set out to specifically do this. The only thing I am confused on is where to start on calories. I weigh 275 lbs and am fairly solid. This isn't a diet to get grosely ripped, but to get in good shape and see some abs. any advice on calories is appreciated.

Thanks

Best advice I can give is to read the boards for a while, then designa program, post it and ask for more advice. It's usually not effective to completely design a program for someone. Just start cutting all the bad stuff from your diet, and go from there. Good Luck.

I second what Kid Dynamite said. and add that generally you can start by 12x body weight for calories when you cut...
If you know your %fat you can get a more acurate equation, but it isn't really needed.
Good luck

I was 300 lbs and now down to 225 with abs starting to show ;P

The most important thing besides eating healither is to TRAIN your body to not want the food that is bad for you. I ate so much crap for so long and I though I would not be able to do without those foods, Metabolife started it for me, then Stacker .. I didn't work out with them but I took them religiously and started to eat healthier, and after a while, my body didn't crave the bad stuff, the hamburgers, greasy fries, etc.

Find a better way to cook, acquire tastes for healthy natural things, drink lots of water, you'd be surprised how less hungry you feel drinking lots of water.

What also will help at the beginning, get some carb or sugar / fat blockers ( w/ chitosan ) I know I know that they are not as effective as they state they are ( unless in very large doses of chitosan ) /w Absorbic acid ( Vit C) having some of the fat blocked is better than having none of it blocked.

There's some great diets posted on this board -- take a look around and see what's best for your goals.

If you're looking for a quick solution that works, I'd suggest a CKD. Then again, that's what everyone recommends ;)
