If you wanted to move out of state but....

you were really close to your family, could you do it? I come from a close-knit fam(you know how us italians are), and this has been weighin on me for a while. I've got my heart set on movin out of state. Its something I really wanna do while I'm young and have no strings attached. However, I love my family. I have a 2 year old nephew with another on the way. I know I gotta do what makes me happy, but its not that easy. My fam also seems to think that if I do go, it would only be temporary. I can't promise that. Anyone else with similar situations?
