You gotta have some big Cajones to think about getting stuff in Mexico and bring it across the border! I thought about it awhile ago till I learned how dangerous and risky it can be.

You aint even lying brotha. We went down there in 98' drove across with about $800 in gear and POW, we got popped. They had us in this damn room talking about how much time they were going to give us. scared the shit out of me and my friend. Took all of our gear,money on us and drained my friends bank account!Luckily they let us go. US Customs are some money hungry ass punks. We had to drive home on a 1/4 tank of gas! Luckily I had a ex-girlfriend that lived somewhat close that hooked us up with some gas money
I will never go back again! If you can get it locally then just pay the extra $$$$. The guys selling the gear take alot of risk so you have to understand why they hike the price up like they do!Just my .02 pennies

Anyone ever go down there for like a 4 month vacation, and buy and use the gear legally down there, finish the cycle then come home?
Obviously this wouldn't work for many, but if you don't have any real connections/commitments I could see it as definitely being plausible as well as safe. Just bring down all the protein powder, creatine, vitamins/minerals, glutamine etc., that you need and you're good to go. I maybe be simplifying this, but it seems like going down midwinter would be a good time to go and come back in the Spring.
Safe, legal, only if you have no strings attached.

You ever been tortured in the back of some empty building?, or had a couple of "federales" pull you and the girls with you into an alley while they held you at gunpoint and raped your girl right in front of you

Be smart and use a safer route...Mexico (TJ anyway) is NOT for the novice these days...
I cant even talk about this anymore...Its making me fucking ill just thinking about it

You can't just make it seem like Mexico is such a horrible risk, and not worth it. The most important thing is where you go. I go to Brownsville, and never had any problem. I have bought prescription drugs(accutane), and showed them to customs while crossing back over. Ever now and then will get searched, but you have any sense, it is relatively easy to get gear back across.
