Did you guys start bartending with no experience? If so, how long did it take you to learn to work the bar by yourself? I've given bartending some thought, but since I don't drink and don't really know shit about alcohol, figured it might not be the place for me.

In order to be a bartender, you are going to have to know your drinks. You don't have to go to bartending school, but some restaurants won't let you bartend until you have had experience or you have been a waiter for them for some time. You can make TONS of money by bartending.
I taught aerobics at a health club and for the local park and rec, worked at a fine dining restaurant, mainly working business luncheons and banquets, worked as a cocktail waitress at a "gentleman's club", and also did freelance work for a local graphic design company....
My suggestion is to get an internship or fellowship, which will pay for your schooling, and enjoy your college experience....
Enlighten me cause I am in the same situation here. I am full time at SFASU in TX living off campus. I need a job but I haven't been able to find shit except working part time at the gym here.
Check out the U.P.S. center in Lufkin.
