If you could only buy 10 rap albums...

If you could only buy 10 rap albums ever, these are the ones I'd recommend.

"The Chronic" - Dr. Dre
"Chronic 2001" - Dr. Dre
"NWA Legacy Vol 1" - NWA & various related artists
"Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers" - Wu-Tang Clan
"Wu-Tang Forever" - Wu-Tang Clan
"Watermelon, Chicken, & Gritz" - Nappy Roots
"Eternal E" - Eazy E
"Devil Without a Cause" - Kid Rock (some rock influence, but Kid started as a rapper and believe it or not, toured with Ice Cube in the early 90's)
"The Marshall Mathers LP" - Eminem
"Doggystyle" - Snoop Doggy Dogg

What? no Run DMC, Public Enemy or LL Cool J. I might be old, but they all kicked ass over anything you just listed.

I am a rap connisseur, so yes, I enjoy & respect the artists you listed. However, all of the albums I listened are basically solid throughout the entire album, meaning you could pop them in the CD player and either not use the fast forward button at all or maybe sparingly. Run-DMC, PE, and Ladies Love Cool James never put out an album that was as rock solid as the ones I listed. The Wu-Tang Forever is an exception, but as a double album, had it been cut down to one CD, it would have possibly been top 3-5 material. But because it was so landmark and has some of the greatest songs ever ("Triumph", "Reunited", etc.) it makes the list on merit alone. The other 9 are consistently good.

Also, Public Enemy doesnt even come close to touching NWA or the Wu-Tang Clan. Run-DMC was groundbreaking, but no more groundbreaking than NWA, perhaps even less so. "The Chronic" and "Chronic 2001" are 2 of the greatest albums of ANY genre ever, and "The Chronic" has arguably the greatest rap song in the history of the genre, "Nuthin But a 'G' Thang".

If the title of this thread was "If you could only BURN ten rap albums" I might have some input. :D Carry on.

I actually do like some of the ones you listed though. The Marshall Mathers LP had some good ones on it.

No Moe Dee?

No MixALot? (rapper upon arriving on the scene)
