If what I heard about John Walker is true...

...this could present a real dilemma for some liberals. Many liberals are sympathetic to the plight of this American who ran away from home to join the Taliban and fight the imperialistic ugly US Army.

Did you know he claims now that he left home because his Dad left his mom after a long marriage and moved in with his homosexual lover.

Walker was hurt by this and says now that he supported the Taliban because they forbid homosexual relations.

The defense attorneys are already saying that they will be checking closely to make sure he receives humane treatment.

As if he would have been treated humanely if he was left in the hands of the Northern Alliance, as he should have been.

I don't see what the big deal is.

On the back of your passport it says that you forfeit your American citizenship if you join the armed services of another country.

Case Closed. He is no longer an American. Try him for Treason and hang him.

My feelings exactly!

 However....

Although a person's enlistment in the armed forces of a foreign country may not constitute a violation of U.S. law, it could subject him or her to Section 349(a)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act [8 U.S.C. 1481(a)(3)] which provides for loss of U.S. nationality if an American voluntarily and with the intention of relinquishing U.S. citizenship enters or serves in foreign armed forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or serves in the armed forces of any foreign country as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer.

Perfectly said (again) Cornholio! I couldn't agree w/ you more.
I have no sympathy for him when he no longer wanted to be an American! :smash:

I'm so mad over this! :smash:

why is he recieving treatment different to that of the dudes in cuba?

Illogical. If he is no longer an American, how can his actions be treasonous?

Following your assumption tyhat he is no longer an American, he should be treated as a POW, in accordance with teh Geneva Convention. I'm with Danielson here.

I agree, but I don't even think he should have been one of our POWs. We only shipped the most dangerous and high-ranking Taliban to Guantanamo, as I understand it.
Walker was a footsoldier, and should have remained in that prison camp run by the Northern Alliance.

TTL

I agree with you. Why are we treating him differently?

Matt

but didn't he supposedly have knowledge of the sept 11th attack? maybe they're trying to get some info out of him. I don't know, just speculating here.

well...Walker can move in with his new homosexual lover...Bubba...over in cell Block D.

Welcome home jackass.....

ok, totally off topic here......but spentagn........ 1. Is that citruscide in your avatar? 2. Is that a dildo he is holding? 3. why in gods name is he holding a dildo?

he has anal lube in the other hand. seriously

(he's impersonating may1010....at least that what he said :dodgy: ;) )

still, im sure the taliban in the camp are being interrogated under far less comfortable circumstances. also the guys in the camp can face death as a maximum penalty

john walkers maximum sentence is life, thats what it said on the news. though he will almost certainly get shanked in jail.

also is there any confirmation that the guys in cuba are high ranking? not saying there isnt im just curious

If he is no longer an American citizen then he should not be tried for treason b/c his citizenship expired when he joined up with the Taliban which was before he took up arms against the US.

Having said that, Walker should not be receiving a trial that an American citizen gets. He should be treated like the piece of shit war criminal he is.

God damn liberals.

I suspect it will prove interesting to kick back and see what stories and conclusions pour forth in this case. So many possibilities and a interesting and perplexing story to begin with.

If the story is true about his dad leaving his mom for a homosexual lover, then his reaction deserves considerable sympathy in my opinion.

I would not be surprised if his dad is a homosexual...our graduate schools are packed to the max with homosexuals and his dad is a lawyer.

ANYONE WHO IS SYPATHETIC WITH JOHN WALKER SHOULD BE LINED UP RIGHT BESIDE HIM AND SHOT WITH HIM.

KAYNE

Anyone else remember the Taliban saying they'll 'fight to the death'? Should've wasted them all.

Anyone who says that they can sympathize with Johnny W. is nothing short of a coward. Yes, I called you a coward. To say that just because his dad was gay and shacked up with another dude caused him to run to one of the most dangerous terrorist cells in the world, is a lame excuse for saying that he really just needed a scapegoat to utilize as plan B. From what I've understood he didn't relinquish his US citizenship, he was on some sort of a personal enlightenment journey. I think that's how I heard it. For him to try and utilize the United States government and our lawyers to protect his pathetic ass is simply sad. If he were my kid, I'd tell the US government to kill his ass and leave him for the buzzards.

Disserter's are a few of the most scornful people in the world. I'm not talking about those who run from the draft, I'm talking those who either leave their military service and fight against the US or hide out, or those that were citizen's and willingly chose to go against the US. Draft dodgers are a little different in my book, but that's another story. There was another guy back during WWII who was Chicago born, German, and working for the Nazi's as a secret spy who was sent here to blow up bridges and buildings. He was a US citizen who had lived 35 years in Chicago who was willing to kill his fellow citizens for some under developed psycho. He was sent to death.

John walker is no different. Either the military council finds him guilty of treason or some other lawyer wording for planning terrorist attacks and knowing about Sept. 11, he should be put to death and not given a second chance.

treason against homeland: treason against one's country

The argument can be made that although he joined the armed services of the Taliban, that does not qualify as a country.

I do see your point Matt.

The problem with the definition of treason is that there must be two witnesses to verify the act.

What the crap??

DOT, I can't speak for Matt, but I think the point is that Walker's offenses are WORSE that treasonous. He is not even a US citizen and doesn't deserve due process in our courts!

He should be rotting away right now in the Northern Alliance prison cell we found him in instead of living large in US custody with expensive attorney and PR support.

Matt I'm getting the feeling that you're playing Devil's Advocate here. As a guy who joined the service to defend his country, I would think that you would be appalled by what this guy did. Technically, he is still a US citizen and given the opportunity, would have fought against the United States. That's treasonous, as far as i'm concerned.

DOT - I am appalled by his behavior.

But as an Army Officer, your oath is (basically) to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and to obey the orders of superior officers. So being prior military doesn't really make me hate him more. One of the freedoms afforded Americans is to leave the US.

I see Walker as a man who did not want to be an American. He disliked the country so much, that he joined the armed service of another nation. So why are we going to spend our tax dollars on what promises to be an expensive trial?

He should be treated like other Northern Alliance soldiers: sent to Cuba or left in Afghanistan.
