That cartoon's pretty stupid...hmmm...so all us Americans would have guns but the terrorists would still bring box cutters? Give me a break. They would have found another way to bring down the WTC.
How about, if we were truly free, our news stations (many of which our owned by military industrial corps) would give us accurate and objective information about our corporate goverments foreign policy so maybe we as a people could have prevented things from escalating to this point.
If we were truly free, then Geeyorge Dubya Bush would not be proposing totalitarian/mark of the beast-style ID cards as a puppet head for whoever's agenda he is following there. (Oh my, maybe it's SATAN huh? I mean, that's what everyone would be saying if a dem. president was proposing it...I thought Dubya was a good Christian though??)
Anyway, that last paragraph was kinda bs but I just love to rip on Bush...can't respect a president who would in all likelyhood be nothing but another alcoholic with a rap sheet if it weren't for his father.

I don't know what goes through their minds. You are right. But it may not be a good idea to let Middle Eastern people carry guns on flights. They do 99% of the hijacking.

So, if a hole was shot in the plane it would depressurize and the passengers would pass out. It is like anything else, we should have the right to choose whether or not to defend ourselves and our family.

Anyone with any common sense could see that allowing your average citizen to carry in-flight is going to cause many problems.
Besides, does anyone really believe that the terrorists would be carrying knives if it was legal to carry guns in flight?
Obviously not. They would find another way, they will ALWAYS find another way.
So the solution is:
1. Eliminate the hatred that makes men willing give up their own lives to take some of ours.
2. Eliminate ALL the terrorists before any of them can retaliate.
I prefer both, but option 2 is less likely to be successful.
Answer this, (and try to keep the personal attacks to a minimum huh? Though you never seem to be able to)
What would carrying guns on airplanes accomplish other than to deter ONE method of terrorism, the knife/gunpoint hijacking? What happens when some asshole's gun goes off and blows a hole through the fuel tank?

They were interviewing a few NCAA football players on the News regarding if they were concerned with flying to the game.

I never assumed you were pro gun control, and the point of the cartoon is having the right to defend yourself. And a bullet through the gas tank would not cause the plane to blow up. You all watch too many movies.

***disclaimer*** this is a observation
we are free, free to watch c-span1, c-span2, go to the library, and do research on the internet. almost all of our govts policy is available for public view. 30min news cast are going to give the qiuck soundbites and political rhetoric, why is this a surprise?
add up the amount of time an average citizen has, if there are 2or3 kids in the family, (dance, sports, school activities) plus each parent works 40 yo 60 hrs/wk. when are they going to research everything? people tend to take care of their immediate problems at hand.
this is one of the reasons our govt is set up the way it is(and i know the sheeple theory as well). we are free to go and vote, so thereby giving politicians the power to handle the govt and its issues, while we can deal with our everyday issues. when we dont like them we vote them out. some people are not worried about chasing thoughts around all day. when you call an electrician to your house to fix a problem you dont go and learn everything you can about electricity do you? hes probaly ripping you off worse than the govt. we pay the guy and trust him.
we are free to not care and we are free to care.
this is nonthing against you frackal im just ranting for the day.
