Ideas for a Sociology Paper?

Which Sociology year are you in? First, second, third? (presumably as you are higher up your degree your sociological knowledge would accumulate)
If you have sufficient knowledge try tackling topics like Modernity & Identity.

Sociology was one of my major in BA and I was very much into researching on critical theory, Foucault, Giddens..Marx etc.

How about the "Fast Food" culture? How some people keeping search for a "fast" way to do things (like diet) in lieu of changing their habits or working hard? This can be applied to many things, in addition to health, diet and excercise. For example, buying a diploma in lieu of going to school.
 
How about the effects of illegal immigration on the stability of the culture.With all the current immigraton issues in the media right now,.. there is a lot of info available.
 
Not sure how much this translates into sociology, but I once did a paper about crowd management/the crowd mentality at sporting events. Sounds a little boring on the surface, but I had some fun with it and related it to marketing techniques.
 
How about the exponential emotional decay of the average american "soccer mom" as it relates to common sense behavior in public.

G&C - sociology is not my major, but this is the third soc. class I've taken here cuz I think it's interesting. It's a 200 level class so the paper doesn't have to be amazing but my aim is most definately to get an A :)

I might look up some info on critical theory and marx, it's something we discussed in class and my teacher might like it

I like that. Despite the weight of scientific evidence against Fad diets, there are still a large percentage of celebrities who feel "owned" by the public and feel that slim is beautiful. Maybe the psychological reasons behind excessive dieting by celebs (rene Z who played Bridget Jones looks terrible now from excessive dieting).

Like a woman with a bit of structure myself!!!!

I was in the conversation but I was talking mmporgs in general. I never played WoW because I'm scared of what I will become (or what my social life will become) :worried:

we were seriously in that hot tub for like 45 minutes, I was so week and sedated feeling - she put a damn good fight.

I think I hit on some girl back home with a line like, "Hey baby, howsabout you and I make a completely inelastic collision" or something like that. I don't remember exactly, but it was funny at the time. To me.

Sociology ideas:

-Online communities and the effect on social structure over the last decade.
-The Simpsons - defining an age.
-Take an iconic movie from each decade (e.g. rebel without a cause - 50's, Saturday Night Fever - 70's, Boys n the hood - 90's, and I cant think of any off the top of my head right now for 60's, 80's and oughts) review them and write a paper on the social impact of fatherhood in these movies (eg. presence, abscence of, etc.) through the lens of popular culture.
-Write a paper on the changing sexual mores from the 50's to 2005 and what impacted the changes over time (new stds, free love, pop culture, etc.).
-Hand in a blank paper and tell them to draw their own fucking conclusions.

I know its a little morbid...but I've always been facinated with sociopaths (bundy, manson, etc.) and what makes them tick. I don't know if you want to do something like that.
