Ideal BB'ing height, build

B0ARDIN087

im 6'0" with broad shoulders big legs and small waist....... i think i have a pretty good build but maybe a little tall. seem ok at least?

Helps to have small joints, since it makes you look bigger than you are.

5'9"" +- one inch seems to be the best height with full muscle bellies and small joints

Proportion is the name of the game. If you're perfectly proportioned, the taller you are the more massive you'll look. Isn't Ronnie Coleman 6 feet tall?

I've seen Coleman he can't be a centimeter over 5'10" at the very most. But, until you stand next to him, he tends to give off the illusion that he is about 7'2".

Proportion is the name of the game, as was mentioned. On average, taller people (6'1" and over) tend to not be as proportioned as guys under 5'10", guys under 5'6" tend to look like midgets (no offense to anyone) and they get no love from the judges when standing next to guys between 5'9-5'11", ever see how ridiculous Lee Priest and Shawn Ray look next to the rest of the lineup, which is why neither one of them will ever be Mr. O, even though Ray deserved it 2 or 3 times at least. Franco Columbo won it despite his height because he was Arnold's boy, and nobody will argue that. I think he should have remained in powerlifting, cause he was one strong motherfucker, but he sure as shit never had the best physique in all the world.

All that being said, I think the idela height is between 5'7" at the absolute shortest to 5'11" at the absolute highest. There are of course exceptions like Gunter, Quincy Tailor, Ferrigno, but on average the taller guys don't have the proportionate physique and tend to always look like they have an imbalance somewhere.

Way back when, I think guys looked better at 6'1" or so with a wasp waist and barn door shoulders, but nowadays you needs freaky thickness throughout the legs , and longer limbed BB's seem to have a harder time with that.

Maybe I was thinking of some other guys' height. Oh well. One of the reasons Arnold was so aesthetic was his great proportions yet tall height.

I'm just under 5'9", with a small bone structure, which makes everything else look big. I sometimes wish I had a bigger frame as I tend to look small with my clothes on, but when the shirt comes off the response is always the same "Holy shit, I didnt know you were that big..."

sounds EXACTLY like me......good to know that someone with a great physique has a similar build. gives me hope :p

i have the same problem of looking small...unless i wear a tight shirt or a wife beater...but it's better than being small boned and 130-135 like i used to be before lifting

a bit off topic, but...

Needsize, I know you took lots of pre-contest pics...what about post-contest pics? I liked Nate's post-contest pic...full, not sooooo lean! I think he's around the same height too - 5'9ish.

Nonerz,

Needsize has some pics I believe its in the pics of members forum that were professionally taken a couple of days after the comp.

Since he hasn't answered yet, I thought I would let you know.

I am going to take some pics soon, just havent gotten around to it. I was 180lbs on stage, and weighed in at 246lbs this week, so there will be quite a change
