Ideal ages for...

What do you think are the ideal ages for:

a) Marrying

b) Having kids

they don't have to be in that order obviously.

Whenever you feel ready (as an adult). I don't think there should be an "ideal" age.
so you think its cool to have kids when you are 60? I'd say that isn't fair to the kids personally.

I'm 32 and I am not quite ready for either.
It was close with the ex. I am taking my time now!

For the guys...what age would you prefer your partner to be also when marrying and having children?
any age is fine as long a they can relate to me.

for kids, I wouldn't want my wife bearing kids past 40, its not really healthy for her or the kids at that point.

That's not what I meant. When you put an "ideal" age on something, then that leads to situations such as the following: A woman pressuring a man at 27 to get marry because it is the ideal age. Or to stray away from the subject, a person not feeling comfortable with going to college because they are not the "ideal" age.

To answer your question, likely the woman would be half (if not more than half) the man's age if he is having children at 60. With the exception of a few Guiness Book Records, the average woman is not pushing out a child at 60. Nor are two people in their 60's going to have sex to conceive a child.

30+ for both IMO

As a guy i'd worry that the child may not be as healthy as they could be if born by a mother over 30. I mean the healthiest age for a woman to have a child is about 18 or something isn't it.

I want to be married and have kids by 32 so when they are 16 I am not 50 with a huge generation gap. I don't belive any man should be married before 28 and I want my wife to be 3-5 years younger than me who isn't opposed to plastic surgery for maintainance.

well ive always looked at it from 2 points of views
A-you have kids early, and your still young when they move out and get lives of their own and you have time to spend with your spouse/SO but your not financially stable in which everyone suffers.

B-you have kids when you are 30 or so and your not as young when they move out and get lives of their own. and then as a plus you get to know your spouse/SO in a deeper sense and get to do things that you cant do once you have kids.
theres pros and cons to both of them IMO but when your young you can keep up with toddlers alot better than when you are 30-40
I was 21 when i had my oldest son...He started walking when he was 7 months old and never stopped.....23 when i had my middle son and he was the calm one...and 28 when i had my 7 year old....gosh he wore me out because he was everywhere. BIG difference 7 years and 3 kids do to ya lol

Who isn't opposed to plastic surgery for maintenance??? jeez

You would be surprised. I know lots of girls who say they would never get plastic surgery.

Tell me you're taking the piss please. You'd have to have a wife who wouldn't be opposed to surgery...'for maintenance'???

Personally i wouldn't want my wife to get plastic surgery.

Thanks douchebag...might want to start practicing it now. Your sarcasm is tired old bullshit that reveals your immaturity. I am saddened that you have any desire reproduce, and I hope you will reconsider.

Ideal ages ?

Well I'm 23 and my girlfrind will be 31 in November. I would love to get married now but she isn't interested in marriage as she has already been married and it wasn't a good one. But I respect her wishes, eventhough it wont stop me from trying to make an honest woman out of her. As for kids, I would have to say now is the ideal time as one is on the way, lol.

And your use of mature "name calling" provides us all with an inkling of your intellect. I like all others on this board am entitled to my own opinion and if she decides to share her information with us and it makes my jaw drop I will comment on it. Also,if my subtle sarcasm is old to you then put me on block, but just as in the real world many like...so kindly go fuck yourself.

As for reproduction...it would be a shame for me not to pass on the genes that make up this speciman of a human being.

LMAO. I guess I am too old to be PG. I guess I should go ask my doctor for an abortion.

There is SOME evidence that a woman over 35 having children has a greater chance of birth defects. But this is flawed too - there are fewer women having children over 35 (than say, 25), therefore statisitcally, the percentage of children with birth defects will be higher - simply due to fewer pregnancies.

And 18 being peak - no way. Peak fertility for a female is around 25-28. After this, it typically will take an extra month or so. *maybe*,to get PG. But this is not definate. I got PG pretty damn easily and I am over 30.

Regardless, even if 18 were "peak" for a female, there are VERY FEW 18 year old females who are physically and emotionally prepared for a child. Even women in their early 20s aren't often prepared. This goes for males too.

I agree with NYC - there is no set age. I think when the people involved are physically, emotionally, and finanically ready for what a child brings. Pregnancy is only one tiny aspect of it. There is a lifetime of responsiblity and care that having a child brings. I do not think many people comprehend this - the magnitude of having a child.

If I call a fish a "fish" is that name calling? If I see a tiger in the zoo, and say "check out that tiger", is that name calling?

Of course not....because calling a fish a fish is correct, just as calling a tiger a tiger is the correct use of language to describe a tiger.

The same applies for calling you a douchebag. You're a douchebag.

If others had doubts, you continue to live up to the name with your posts. Thanks for making yourself easy to recognize.

they don't have to be in that order obviously.

First marriage ... Both between 21 - 28; no more than 3 years age dif.

Other marriages ... no guidelines.

Having children through birth ... the first before 30 and 4 year spacing after that. This is based on simple practicality.

Having children through adoption or "awarded through the court" ... no guidelines because this is done many times for dif motives and need.

As for the remark about "having kids at 60" ... You be surprised at what a great Father and Mother older people can be to children. A 64 year old Grandmom and GFather friend of mine just took up being Mom and Dad to two children whose parents were killed in car crash. I'll bet they will be super parents.

SoKlu - Yes I am an asshole, thanks for just now noticing. No I do not think I am cool, I am just another guy entertained by the all the different kinds of people this world has to offer. I find it amusing that a self proclaimed plumper like yourself is popping out babies beginning at a young age, but then again I guess they don't teach sex ed in the trailer park.

Hey there's no need to get defensive and roll your eyes...if you want to be like that then go elsewhere. I simply stated that it would be a concern to me as a man that the chances of the baby being completely healthy will inevitably raise as the woman gets older.

...and obviously the risk will increase as the womans eggs get older. If a woman starts producing eggs at say age 12, then by the time she's done with puberty (probably much younger than 18) she's ready to reproduce. It goes a little bit against nature for a woman to wait around for another 12-15 years to actually reproduce. The human body wasn't designed for females to go out and get a job, buy a house, keep working and then some time later think about having a baby. It's obvious to me that the older a woman gets the more risk there is.

That's not to say it's not possible to have a few pefectly healthy babies past the age of 30...i'm just saying it would definately be a big worry for me as a man because my body would be telling me that an older woman is not as fertile or healthy as a younger one.

Good luck with the pregnancy btw.

I will roll my eyes anywhere I damn well please. And I certainly won't go anywhere else. If my "eye rolling" offends you, then YOU go somewhere else. You posted an ignorant, and flawed, statement. I responded. Grow up and move on.

Oh, and women don't start *producing* eggs at the age of 12. They are *born* with the only eggs they get. Only men "produce" their genetic material. Women are born with theirs.

Um no it wasn't ignorant or flawed...read my post again if it doesn't register second time then it's probably best just to let it go. If it keeps you happy then you keep rolling those eyes but i'll repeat again that there was no need to get defensive about it like you did.

'Grow up and move on'...classic.

Yes obviously i know that women don't just grow their eggs at the age of 12...by "producing" i meant that at that age the eggs start being released for fertilation. Sorry it wasn't more clear for you.

i see you've already been chastised for this completely ignorant comment, but i'll throw my 2 cents in too.

You don't know what you're talking about.
I share your view, when i see a woman with ... say 3 kids from 3 different fathers and she's 25 years old and now can't work cause she's taking care of them and on welfare and will most likely have more before she's 30.
but, thats not soklueles. not by a long shot.
I'm not going to get into her business- but she did what women SHOULD do. married, had kids.
the fact that she had them young, or had one more than you would have, is of no business of yours, and you, sir, are an asshole for your comment.

i dont think age has any thing to do with this....it all boils down to maturity no matter how you look at it

21 is a fine age...like i said it boils down to maturity...all you clowns think what you want but i had my first kid at 17...i took care of my son and did the best that i could do.....i knew what my responsibilities were and i took care of them....24 with 3 kids and they are my world....
there is not an age that you should be set at when you get married and have kids....and as far as marraige before kids yes that is a great way to do things but i dont believe in those pregnancies that result in the parents marrying only because they have a baby on the way, cause 5 years down the road they split and the kid is worse off than before!

Let me see. According to my plans, it was 28 for both and 30 for the second kid. I've made both my plans!

I just got wind of this one....

Hey 'bobber'...you should think about sticking your head in a bucket of water until the bubbles stop.

What a complete and total fucking asshole you are.....geez...

Funny how you think that is some how insulting me...lol. It would be like me calling you a bitch when you already have it under your name.

I tend to agree with NYC when ever you feel ready. I hate to feel the presure of at this age you should be here. Fuck the norm at this age I should be where ever the fuck I want to be. Which is not ready for either marriage or kids.

Wifey was 18, I was 20 when we married.
Wifey was 20, I was 22 when ours was born. It worked out well, but if I had to do it over again, I would wait 'til she was 30ish for babies. Health of baby has little to do with the age of the egg. It's more the health of the mother that can affect the child's prenatal development.
I would've waited simply because of the time I spent working at apprenticeship, near poverty, with a baby. if we'd waited for 10 yrs to have the baby we'd have been better set financially. That's the only reason I'd have waited. Other than that, things worked ouot well.

Then I guess its better to not even try to get married if youre pregnant since its guaranteed to not work anyway.
Many couples stay together "for the sake of the kids" after they are born. Getting married for the sake of the kids is no different and plenty of couples make it work just like couples who make it work after they are married and had kids already. Not many couples regret staying together for the sake of the kids once the job is done and the results are to be had, its quite good actually.
But with todays instant gratification, disposable society I understand why you would have your opinion.
