Icq questions

Just wanted any opinions from icq users.
Is it any better than it used to be when it first came out? Is it secure or how secure is it. Does it take long to download (56k) and how much space does it take up.

I absolutely hate the new ICQ. Sorry, but I don't know about security. If you do plan to use ICQ and don't want 10 million advertisements and 500 billion functions that you'll never want to use, track down Icq99b or have me e-mail it to you. Best version I've used.

Warik is right on about this....I still use the 99 version, and everyone I know using the new version gets more spam messages then I do

I use the new version but only because I cracked it as soon as I got it to remove the banners and ads and shit
I havent ever had any problems with it. Not alot of difference from 99b/
if you can get it, use it. It's fairly straightforward

I refuse to use AOL or Yahoo messanger
they are just awful///.........

MSN messenger is pretty good.

i like aol messenger. its easy. icq is alright but not very many people go on it.

never used msn messenger...but could be persuaded to use it under the right circumstances. hehe.

ICQ is like 5mb and i not like it one bit

MSN messenger is very good, i like it lots
plus it interrgrates itself with hotmail and IE5 quite well

adverts are non-esxistnt (virtually anyhow)

u can use it to call people and page them on their mobiles.

AND its very small, its only like 0.5mb or someting

i hate microsoft as much as the next man but id use that

I'm using 2000b there was some bugs with it but it's not bad. If you like skinning icq then getting icq plus is cool. I haven't had any problems with it so far except for that enhanced sms ad up at the top you can't get rid of.

Thanks everyone. I have msn and indeed I like it but not many people who I wish to speak to have it. They all go on about icq and I had this about 3 years back on a different pc.
