a bad accident today :(

My kid, my mom, brother, godchild and myself were headed to church when we saw this car right in front of us lose control hit the ditch bounce back flip and bounce another two times.

I didn't think that anyone would be able to get out of the car and before I could stop and get out she was climbing out of the back glass.

Whoa, talk about a reality check. All I could do is thank God above for her being ok enough to walk away, it was that bad.

My kids and my godchild totally flipped out. They were crying :(

I helped her to my car sat her down and had her relax, a team of doctors from Minnesota, here for disaster relief passed by and stopped to assist.

shine a light on me.. whoa if i'd have hit like she hit as fast as I drive i'd have never walked away. Makes me think twice about being in such a hurry and the need for speed.

I'm glad it she was alright, amazing as it was. I saw a bad accident once. Once it all it takes. I'll never forget it. Not in this life.

That will definitely do it for ya.

One time me and 2 buddies were driving home from the casino late night when my friend slammed on his breaks. Where he thought was a cop car was a totally destroyed black Nissan Maxima, sitting about 20 yards into the grass right before the woods on the side of a major highway at night. All my friend saw was the dangling headlight (which was extremely dim) so he slowed down, thinking it was a cop. When he passed the car he pulled over and we ran up to the vehicle, where we began to approach is slowly, using our cell phones as flashlights. I thought I was going to see blood and bodyparts everywhere. The entire trunk of this car was gone. Gone. Ripped off. The hood and roof were smashed, the sides scraped. Then I saw the kid...passed out laying halfway out the back windshield. He was barely breathing. It looked like he tried to climb out the car but passed out while trying to do it. Or he got flung into that position. We called the cops and left shortly after they arrived with ambulances. I hope that kid made it, he only had a slightly bloody face...but man was that car destroyed. It clearly was sideswiped (it had white paint on the doors), which probably caused it to flip a few times and landed way off in the distance.

Really makes you think...

i couldn't just leave, I stayed gave my statement, called her family and gave them my contact information so they could call me and tell me if she was ok.

I'll worry about this until i know she's ok.

Funny you said this last night was going down highway guy came out of bar got to middle lane and car hit him smashed window, then a kid driving came down the road couldnt stop and ran over him again...Sorry to say he didnt make it...Sad part is he didnt drive to be safe and still got killed ...Sad happens every week seems on this highway event after they put up lights on road..

everything happens for a reason.

I do believe that also, but I also believe we in some way control our destiny.

My 330 outpt didnt show up and a overhead page had gone off a few minutes prior to the icu so I went to get some exercise. End of the day and I said my pt didnt show, seeing what the commotion was, I heard the phrase for the first time today "...just getting in the way of a good man dying", I laughed, now Im really wondering if he died, fixed stare but I had to leave b/c Im oncall at this hospital. tootalooo, like it was just another day at the mine, til I read this thread

I love watching accidents. How I react to them depends entirely on how I feel. Sometimes, I'm concerned. Other times, I laugh and smirk.

One day, karma will get me too.

I witnessed a guy in a lifted Samurai roll it over taking a turn too sharp. No seatbelt, He was pinned between the hood and the curb. Five of us who witnessed it lifted the front end of Suzuki up and he scrambled out on his own. I figured his chest was crushed, looked like such an awkward angle. But he was fine.

Car accidents are rough.

3 years ago I flipped my car 3.5 times, it landed on the roof. The passenger sitting shotgun was ejected around flip 1, he got messed up bad. The guy sitting in the back with his seat belt on was fine. I was knocked out instantly and broke my thumb.

Everyone is fine now...but it puts things into a different perspective.

wow, intense.

Church on a Wednesday night that is.

i hate to sound preachy but if you think about it you should slow down for you family's sake and drive a bit on the safer side.

my mom is very religous and she knows i kinda have a lead foot her and my grandmother who is also very religous just bought me a pin for my car its an angel that says "drive safely son" i put it on my visor and always give it a quick check when i get in my car

i'm glad it wasn't you friskers, but i know that feeling- i've witnessed bad accidents before and it leaves you feeling like you barely missed it yourself.

I hope your kids didn't witness too much of the accident.

BTW you are a good samaritan - you helped the NO lady in the shop with money, you wanted to volunteer your help to the NO victims and now with the accidend. You have a good heart Frisky. :rose:

good thing you were not to close or you would have been right there with her.... good on ya for stopping.. ive seen accidents on the opposite side of the road and the people that were behind them just went around and kept going. i always stop to help.

I saw a car flipping in the highway here once... not a nice sight. Specially since you are trying to figure out "how do I keep myself safe".

another time a guy with a bike rack (european thing...) dropped the bikes and they were all over the highway (4 bikes)... this happened 3 cars ahead of me. Lucily the traffic was light and you could maneuver

I was getting home late on night when it was barely raining. It was on a busy road in a residential area. A guy was speeding badly. He lost control and went through bushes. He was headed towards a house. His car went under the deck on that house. The deck was about 4 feet off the ground. He was in a Camaro. Found out later he lost his head.

:rose:

Thank you guys.

A German exchange student said when accidents do happen on the Autobahn they are huge headlines. They don't happen too much but they are bad.

I saw a bad motorcycle asccident in Germany in '84. Guy was passing a car & the car blew a tire. Car hit the bike, bike went into a retaining wall, & the car went in on top of him. Saw his legs sticking up above the smashed hood. 3 cars ahead of us stopped, so we went into town & stopped at a Gasthof & called the polizei.
I got rear ended pretty good once. I was alone in the car & I saw her coming, so I put my head against the head rest & let go of the wheel. We were both OK, but our cars were totalled. I felt bad for her because she was a nurse, & a single Mom. Her hubby had just left her a coupla months earlier.

It only takes one second of distraction, one tiny bit of a yawn or sneeze, one bob of the head from being too tired... and everything, EVERYTHING changes for ever.

I was in a car with some bodies as a teen that ran a three way stop at 80mph. Yes, we were wasted. S. arm is basicly uselss, his future as a proball draftpick ended that night. We are all lucky we didnt die.

I know a certain woman that has a lead foot like they dream of on the FormulaOne circuit. I hope she slows down a bit....
