I want a deprivation chamber

I ran into an interesting article today about how therapeutic deprivation/float chambers are. It talks about how when all senses are muted the brain continues to function but in an almost dreamlike state and time becomes obsolete. It's supposed to be great for stress, pain, insomnia and everything that comes along with those among other benefits. Has anyone ever been in one?

I'd love to get totally fogged out and float in there for a couple hours. I'm looking into trying it out at a lock wellness center with my wife and we like it will look into buying one.

I'm not in the least bit surprised at her experience (article was written by a chic). Considering that an enormous amount of people in our country have some kind of nearly constant outside input stimulating their minds they have no idea what it's like to be inside their own heads with only their own thoughts. I tried to teach a newbie group of people in their late teens and 20s to meditate and it was like trying to teach my cat to say the alphabet. They couldn't do it, got disgusted and frustrated and gave up in about 20 minutes. A deprivation tank artificially creates certain aspects of deep meditation. It could be a big mental shock.

IOW, Pdaddy, this is definitely a try before you buy item. And I would advise to not get fogged before doing it.

From what I've been reading this guy is the exception. I think a lot depends on how open you are going into this and your ability to 'let go' and detach body from mind. I think some people are just incapable of this...even with the help of a deprivation tank. Everyone's experience will be different. I think mine would be pretty good since I consider myself an introspective person.

I totally agree with this. Finding them to start ~10k brand new it is FOR SURE a try before you buy.

Didn't they once do studies of people on acid inside these years ago?

Yep, big in the late 60s and 70s. I got curious and did some Googling of my own. Here's another person's experience, which was totally positive, that includes a little of the history and people who came up with and studied the concept of sensory deprivation.

Sensory deprivation, flotation tanks: I floated naked in a pitch black tank, and you should too.

I tried meditation. Felt like I was going to have a meltdown and snap someone's neck.
I'm surprised! I thought with all the prayer, fasting and personal discipline in your faith meditation would come easily.
