I wanna learn guitar

Hey guys. I dunno why but after hearing some songs ex. APC - The outsider (the beginner guitar part)

I wanna learn guitar.
I'll be 18 this month and I already got enough for presents but i work 30 hours a week and I want to spend around 200-250 bones on a guitar setup with an amp to learn on.

Can anybody point me in some directions and help me out?

I do not want to take lessons at a music store, i would rather learn with 2 friends (one new and one experienced)

Let me know, because i know some of you are probably pretty skilled guitarists and can help me out

Dunno what kind of guitar i want or what the hell an acoustic, electric, bass is.

You don't even know what a bass, electric or accoustic guitar is and you want to play one? Well an accoustic you do not need an amp.
Electric is what it is you plug a amp in to hear it.
Bass is an electric guitar that plays the bass notes it is usually 4 strings.

I would get a nice fender or gibson clone guitar to start with. A crate amp is pretty cheap begginner amp too.

There are some pretty cheap starter kits that would be around 200-250. If you want electric you would get a shitty guitar, a shitty little amp, a strap, some picks, and a cable. Everything you need to get strumming basically. They aren't high quality instruments, but they would be fine for a starter. Otherwise, you could pick up a slightly better low-quality acoustic for that price. It depends on what you want to play.

my suggestion is to start on a 12-stringed acoustic upright bass made from argonian rosewood.

so he can learn all the bad habits?

Might i suggest either a 1936 Gibson Harpitar or a Weisenborn Bowl Back #4?

:lmao:

Gibson was still making harp guitars in the 1930s???

If you start on an acoustic (think all the "unplugged" stuff), you'll develop better finger strength and conditioning than if you started on an electric. It's up to you, but in either case, make sure you go to a good music shop or have you buddy recommend something good. First and foremost though, it's gonna have to be a guitar that you feel comfortable with.

Practice, practice, practice. The first week is the toughest, developing calluses, but after you can play your first three-chord progression, it will already be worth it!!

I just spent the last 4 hours playing guitar with my band at rehearsal.

Guitar players suck.

I'm taking up the tambourine.

Shit!!

My drummer smokes. Now I smell like fucking cigarette smoke.

Guitar players are what makes the band.
Look at the Red Hot Chilli Pepper. John Fruscainte made that band. Before him when Hillel was playing guitar, they were a good funk band. Then they made, Sex, Sugar, Blood and Magic. Then he left the band because of stage fright. The band went down hill with Dave Navarro. Then John came back and Californication.

Drummers and bassists are superfluous, meaning, you can get any competent bass player and drummer and you are good. A rock band boils down to a singer and guitarist. If they are both brilliant and mess together, you get excellence.

For example, Kurdt Kobain did not need anybody. He was a badass guitarist and singer. He could have any competent drummer and bassist and you would have had the same Nirvana.
