I tried absinthe for the first time

It tasted nasty and did not do anything more than what any other alcoholic beverage would do. So
I wonder why it's illegal here in the states?

There is a pshychoactive drug called thujone in absinthe. Supposedly it's highly addictive. I've had absinthe before. A buddy of mine paid $250 a bottle to get it from Europe. Not worth it imo. It's legal in the US now. At least I've seen it in a few local liquor stores, probably minus the thujone.

There is a special way to prepare absinthe to make it taste better. You light the absinthe on fire and carmalize about a spoonfull of sugar using the flame. Mix the sugar and absinthe. Then pour it over ice in a shaker and serve it cold. Tastes much better than straight from the bottle.

the absinthe sold in the U.S. isn't the real stuff. It doesn't have "wormwood" in it. Try going to Europe and drinking some of the real stuff. The U.S. kind is a fake ripoff.

i had 2 shots of it and felt great

just like strong alcohol IMO.

maybe i felt a little high too

it wasnt like i suddenly started tripping on acid after drinking it
