Seems like a good idea. Could drastically help out in this fucked up tragedy in NO and the region...I'll even go as far as to say it should be manadatory for all US citizens to devote a year of time to the CCC corp. Then you would have a force of trained and ready able bodies to help in situations such as this...

seriously dude...maybe not a solid year, make it a requirement for 2 years one weekend a month. Have peeps build public works, maintain parks, clean roadsides...teach them CPR and other basic EMS shit. teach them survival skills and tactics. Most importantly make it a requirement for everyone who lives or wants citizenship here.

in that regard right on. myself, I would volunteer for that...then in situations like this I could respond to NO and help the cause, already being trained and orgainized

I would volunteer as well....but as it is, all we can really do with the current system is support the Red Cross and other organizations who deal with disasters such as this.

True that, but if any of us bugged out an tried to help, we would be lost in the crowd or waved off by authorities...not counting the fact that our employers wouldn't support our absence.
