my good friend got spinal meningitis. his temp got to 108 in the hospital after they read him his last rights. they had to restrain him to the bed because he started hallucinating and attacking people. took a chunck out of his dads arm when he bit him.
a miracle happened and he survived.
the headache he had was so severe they said he was screaming and crying from it. he also couldnt turn his head as his neck became so stiff.
if the headache becomes so crushing you cant stand it - and youve never experienced cluster type headache pain - get help immediately. you only have a small window with meningitis. thats for future knowledge.

viral meningitis, youre OK. bacterial meningitis has a high mortality rate

I experienced all of these symptoms - MASSIVE head ache, I was hallucinating (that's how i knew something was wrong.... i knew i needed help but I was not able to dial 911 on the telephone. Eventually wandered out on to the street and asked a stranged to call for help); the thrashing and convulsions only started after the ambulance arrived. I was also restrained.
It was a frightening experience.
As Crazy Russian says, there are 2 types of Menningitis - Viral and Bacterial.
Viral has no cure, no medicine (it is afterall a virus) you just have to bear it. I was in the hospital for a few days then was sent home to lay on the sofa in extreme pain (could barely move my head) for 2 weeks. But the upside is that Viral is RARELY fatal.
Bacterial is extremely fatal. If Bacterial is not caught with in the first day or so you will die. But if caught in time then there IS medicine and a cure (it is aftertall a bacteria and anti-biotic work)
