missed 605 on the box tonite
made 585

goddamn camera battery was dead i woulda had video sorry..i actually feel dumb since i brought the camera and set it down to tape my max sets i thought the thing was running the whole time..nope..

fun nite almost passed out with 605 on the box it was extrememely humid in my gym and the fans werent working and inexperienced spotters didnt help lol..of course the weight room is on teh same floor as the pool which is just one big sauna

I loved box squats in high school..you could load the bar with 2x your normal weight and rep it with ease...i think we called em "sissy squats".

i don't think so joey...the box should be slightly below parellel...no way you should be able to do twice max...most peeps i know box only slightly more than regulard

but i get 60-70 lbs carry over to my free squat using the same equipment..
some get more some get less
 
wnt2b, you are such a pussy!! J/K bro!! YOu can't complain that you missed 605 when you hit 585. Good job, 605+ will come some day... I myself am still waiting for that day to come

i think i did 605 i my dreams once....in any event, nice job with the 585. you must have some serious trunks for legs. how much do you weigh?

then the box you used was too high.
no way are box squats "sissy".
use a 12" box next time and go down till you're sitting on it and get back to us about how 'sissy' it is.
 
I think I need to find out what the hell a box squat is. :confused:
I thought the box was the cage. There is a box involved also?

BTW, you're all sissies and should bow down to my feet.

you can use a bench but i have an adjustable "box" so i can change the height to suit whatever im doing..
anyway bsaically you want a box thats at para or below..
set your squat stance sit on and PAUSE (thats the big thing is to make sure to pause) on the box releasing te hip flexors but keep the abs tight then reflex off the box..

the pause is the whole key..it makes a squat harder that is how you get carry over to a free squat..if you just touch the box the only thing you did was mark how low you went

i use a milk crate with a 2x4 layer over the top...

a box squat involves an actual box or seat that you sit on at the bottom. it has nothing to do with the power rack or cage.

someone told me thats really bad for ur back... is that a bunch of bs, or its only bad if u dont have good form

if you bounce off the box, like you proly will be a young'un and all...sit back deep when you do them...feet in front of you not under...90 degree angle in knee

prolly the same people that say deadlifting is bad for your back as well :rolleyes:

people like this have to justify to themselves why they dont squat or pull or better yet its how they justify using a smith machine..

i find it funny when someone( like most trainers in my gym) havent a clue about how to squat properly then go and teach someone there improper form
