I got pulled over for failing to make a complete stop BEFORE the stop line. I was maybe two feet past the line, and as soon as I had turned in the road, the cops that were waiting on the other side of the road flashed their rainbow lights at me. I was departing from a party that got broken up, and thought I had give myself enough time for the cops in the area to disperse from the busted party since I had been drinking prior to the bust. little did I know, their is a Sheriff's station a block from the house, I found out later. ok, now on to the tests:
first test
I was still in my truck, and the cop had his pointer finger on top of his pen and made me follow the tip of his finger. cake
second test
he thought he didn't get a good enough result from that, so he asked me to step out, and try it again standing up. did all right, but I felt like I wasn't doing too good, since I am not used to standing with my feet touching and trying to balance myself.
third test
the deputy had me stand with my feet together, hands at my side, and tilt my head back with my eyes closed, and count to 30 on his start. I was standing on an hill facing the incline, which now that I think about it, I felt it was easier that way, than on a more level surface.
fourth test
hands on my sides, with one leg raised six inches off the ground, and count to 30, starting from 1001 to 1030. piece of cake
fifth test
walk heel to toe nine steps with hands at my sides one way, turn around, and do the same.
last test
breathalizer. this was the point where I got nervous. he got this little box from his vehicle, and I had to breathe through this little tube thing. after a couple of minutes, he came back with the results, and the meter showed a reading of 0.041.
The legal limit in California for the blood/alcohol level is 0.08 and you could get arrested. I scored a lower reading which was good in my case. Throughout the whole testing process, I was trying to keep my cool, very complaint with the deputy, and during the process, another sheriff had came over, and talked to my passenger and let her know that I was ok. I don't condone drinking and driving at all, and I always drink responsibly. by the time I had left the party, I was sober, not just sober enough to drive, completely sober. I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, specially since the party I was at was busted, and little did I know, that there were sheriff's deputies cruising the area for drunk drivers. I lucked out TOTALLY.
just wanted to share this experience with you all, 'specially the ones that drink and think they are sober enough to drive home. I know my limits, and I thought for SURE, since I did the test, that I was just going to get arrested, and that the test was just a legality before getting arrested.
ok, flame me beautiful.
