I need to GAIN 35 POUNDS HELP!!!

Bill King

Here is the Issue.
I am in High School right now going into my senior year of football-- our season just ended with my weighing 162 pounds playing fullback... probably the smallest fullback in the league.

This year I am willing to do whatever it takes to hit the 200 pound mark. As of today I weigh 165 pounds, and am currently taking Testrol, Creatine, Whey Protein, and Weight Gainer.

What I need is suggestions, besides the usual EAT EAT EAT... I need something that will seriously work, any measures to get this, because football is that important to me.

Any info would be great.

It's true Bill... You're going to have to eat hard and lift heavy.. I suggest u count callories to make sure you hit at least say 1000 or more over maintenence.. And try and get 1.5 to 2 grams protein per pound of bw as well... Thats about as simple as I can put it.

Good luck bro

Weight Gainers are empty calories. There is so much sodium in those, all it does is make you retain water.

You must eat like there is no tomorrow, and get on a lifting program consisting of heavy compound movements. Run a search for Cornholio's Old School routine.

You're the same guy that asked on the anabolic board......

"how does an underage person go about getting anabolic steroids?"

You are not going to hit the 200 mark this year. Sorry, thats just fact. With all the cardio and your inexperience in the gym, you cannot gain that type of size that fast. Relax dude, bust your ass in the gym and use your smaller size as your drive. Be faster, be smarter, be badder. Don't use gear. High school football is not that important.

Here is what I suggest to you... it might be more effective than reaching 200lbs.

Have a personal trainer with some experiene in plyometrics take you through a routine, one that you can do on your own, and maybe do once a week with him. You will increase your speed, acceleration and be able to hit the defense with alot more speed than you could before... thus turning your 165lb frame before into a faster moving object... it's simple physics... plus, with the fancy footwork, you'll be able to dodge many tackles.

In High school I ran a 4.5 40-yard dash, I was a quick muther fucker at my height. I played football my senior year at 165lbs. I was kickoff return and flanker... I also did some reverses... I don't think anyone could catch me from the other team (one reason, when I came in on offense I was always well rested!) :)

My point is, you can probably bulk up 10lbs of solid muscle in a year... stay away from anabolics dude, you are in High School for pete's sake... 10lbs of muscle in a year is HIGHLY doable... especially at your age... so you can get to around 175 and stay lean... and maintain that quickness and speed.

Look into it bro

why rain on this guys parade fellas?

I bet you could do it if you really worked hard (NEVER missing a meal, sleeping LOTS, squatting and deadlifting)

Do a routine that looks like this

day 1
squat 5x5

day 3
bench 5x5

day 5
deadlift 5x5

include whatever asistance just make sure you keep that basic plan.

EAT man eat lots of steak, hamburger, pasta. you can do it...its not going to be all muscle but give it a try. Whats the worst that can happen? you don't like the fat gain so you drop it after the season? big deal

Exactly what I was trying to say, said much better

Bill, most of my life i have been realitively skinny. I always took tons of different Weight Gainers and worked out hard. And still remained pretty skinny but ripped (dont use WeightGainer). Not what i wanted. I have to agree with JDarty6173, you need to consume 2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight (drink alot of water for your kidneys). I did this and immediately started making huge gains! Below is a sample diet of what I eat daily:

6 egg whites & 2 Servings of Oatmeal
Protein Shake
Chicken Breast and Yellow Rice
Protein Shake
2 Tuna Sandwiches (Fat Free Mayo)

Workout

Chicken Sandwich & 1 Yogart
Protein Shake

I hope this helps. Work real heavy with low reps. I would only work each muscle group once per week (Mon-Fri) and rest on the Weekends.

I went from 140lbs to 191lbs (51 lbs.) in 2 years with just Heavy and Intense workouts and a good diet. Good luck, you can do it. :)

Wow, those are some immpressive gains! Was much of that body fat or are you still pretty lean?

The 51lbs is mostly muscle. I am not as ripped as before, so yes i did gain some body fat, but not much. My current bodyfat is 10%, not as low as I would like, but still not bad. I am a webdesigner so i sit on my a$$ all day, this doesn't help my bf%. I hope to have it down soon, i never use to do cardio but have recently started to get my bf% lower.

How tall are you?
Thats damn immpressive man.. are you natural?
I do lazy computer work all day as well, and get some good resting time in... its good for recovery.. but bad for stayin lean...

I am 5'10" 191 lbs. now. I eat really good, but like you said working at a computer all day makes it hard to stay lean. I eat very low fat. But the problem is inactivity. I am all natural, i have only taken supplements (Protein, Creatine, ZMA). I take working out so serious, maybe too serious, i write down everything i eat and calculate my protein intake, calories, etc. I also write down all my workouts. I dont have any current pics, hope to take some soon, but here is one of my back at 172 lbs.(1 Year ago), not that big here:

What is your weight and height?

I'm 5'10, low 190's.. I'm guessing my BF is around 12% right now.. havn't gotten tested to be sure... Your definitely leaner than me in that picture!
I was down to 178 pretty lean in the summer and then bulked to 200+
I never did any legs, or much back work until this summer, so I have been gaining a decent amount of weight throughout those body parts recently
I've been training on and off since I was 16 due to shoulder issues and a knee issue.. I'm 21 now and have been back at it really hard since march... I'm hoping for 190lbs less than 10% BF by summer and 200 at the same bodyfat for the following summer... without gear..
We'll see how that goes...

Did you bulk up over 200+ from gear? I have never tried any gear, and probably wont, but I am tempted to try 1-AD (prohormones).

Nope, no gear, never touched the stuff... I put on quite a bit of fat and water though.. I was taking creatine... Made me retain a ton of water...
I ate like a famine was coming, I didn't look very good though... too chunky for my liking..

Ok well I've started to take weight gainer as well, all it does is leave me bloated. I'm also looking to gain 30 -40 lbs, within the next 5 months, all natural... I've gained 6 Lbs this week, but it looks my stomach is like colemans...haha, well maybe not that etched but its bloated.
Can someone explain why the weight gainer is bad? Or at least, not good. ;) I'm useing Prolab Nlarge 2
also a whey protein, creatine, glutamine.
At the begingin of my bluking phase right before i started i was 6' , 210, 13% bf (more now 3months in to bulking only gained 10 lbs since i started bulking, and most came after the short prolab nlarge taking)
I also eat like crazy, but i would love to put on massive weight like my friend that posted this thread.
any other suggestions for gaining weight?

all natural...

Lots of compound movements, get your deads, squats, bench and power cleans dialed in tight. Everytime you workout eat like it is your last meal on this earth. Down lots of dextrose (80g +) post workout with a good whey like isopure. Before you hit the rack, eat some protien like chicken, tuna or cottage cheese. Sleep BIG.

Well I know for a fact it is possible to put on 30 pounds in 1 year naturally.. I did it in about my second year of working out, once I realized that the key was in my diet... I went from maybe .5 grams of protein to 2 grams of protein per pound.. Started watching calories to make sure I was well over maintenance.

Well during that year my bodyweight went from 170 to 200 without any noticable increase in bodyfat... Also it was that year that I got my training together with a decent program of heavy compound movement... And again this was all naturally.. So it is possible bro..you just have to want it bad enough.

JD, I agree with you. But, the reasons I said its not possible......

-By "year", he's talking about within the school year correct? So, that's actually, what, 6 months?

-Considering the cardio regime that he is probably undergoing for football.

-His comments on the anabolic board lead me to believe that he needs someone to help him train and get his diet down.

So, we're talking 35 pounds in 6 months, under stress of cardio, naturally. If he were to apply every variable possible to acheive this weight gain, he would completely negate the skills of playing football(his priority). As Citruscide said, he should find a sttrong median between size and skill.

I was also trying to mellow him out because of his immediate "need" for steroids to help his pursuit. Not good.

ya true... i agree with JD and thaibox.... 35-40 lbs, of HARD ASS work, within 12-14 months, sure. that amount in 6 months while keeping the cardio necessary for football, im not sure. Im at 177 from 166. I need about 30-35 more. Im afraid that ill be a lot bigger, but my heart will kill me if i run like 10 feet. should I incorporate maybe 2-3 days of sprints????????

Ok. I am guessing that you are 16-17 years old. I am guessing that you are 6' tall or under.

What good will it do you to weight 200 pounds if you can not controll the weight and it slows you down? As an athlete, large amounts of weight gain will NOT help you at all as a running back. As a lineman, probably. On defense or any position which requires a lot of speed and agility...NO.

If I were you I would set strength and agility goals as well and make them your priority. I would also shoot to weigh 185-190 with those goals.

EAT EAT EAT is the biggest thing. I have been using the MQ supplements for the past 6 weeks and have been making some good gains despite some health concerns and injuries. Several people in my classes have been commenting on how I have continued to get leaner and yet look bigger in many areas...since my last contest. I drink the triple threat all the time!!! For the price and YOUR needs...you should try a few buckets!!!!

My suggestions:
Meal 1: 40-60 grams prot, 60 grams carbs, 30-50 grams fat
Meal 2: 30 grams prot, 60 grams carbs, 30 grams fat
Meal 3: 40 grams prot, 80-100 grams carbs, X grams fat
Meal 4 (post workout): 40 grams prot, 80-100 grams carbs, 30 grams fat
Meal 5: 30 grams prot, 30-60 grams carbs, 10-20 grams fat
Meal 6: 30-40 grams prot, 30-60 grams carbs, 0-20 grams fat

Of course you can't really do this but you can TRY. Trying to meet these goals will lead you in the right direction. Sure, if you can't eat all of that carbs or fat...don't. TRY though!!! 200 grams of Prot, 350-400 grams carbs, 80-150 grams of fat...DAILY.

With your training...3-4 days a week. You need to be doing some WSB sled dragging too as well as cardio and atheltic drills. Remember that this is the "off season" so use it like that. Be lazy, eat a lot, sleep a lot, and lift a lot. Don't worry about a lot of cardio or athletic training right now...focus on that late next Spring.

Thai.. I was just assuming he meant a full year... But in 6 months naturally? no way... Short of gorging and gaining a ton of fat... But yeah, if 6 months is the case then definitly reevaluate your short term goals....
