We have a red miniature daschund. His name is Max and he is 1 year old. He's a great dog and very smart and rules the house. We also have a calico cat and they get along pretty good. Today, as I was browsing the boards here, my phone rang and it was my wife. She had stopped off at the pet store so our daughters could oooo and awwwee over the pets. She said while they were playing with the pets, a litter of black and tan miniature daschunds arrived and they were soooooooooo cute! She wanted me to come down there and look at them because she just thought that they were sooooooo cute. I didn't really want to go because EF is my life and one minute away from here and I begin to get the shakes! LOL!
Anyway, I went down there and there were four of them and it brought back memories of when our dog was a pup and how he used to snuggle up under my jacket and he would do the things that puppies do. I really enjoyed it and my daughters were just enthralled with all of them. They were begging and begging, "Can we get one daddy?....Can we...oh.....please can we get one? Your own kids....how can you deny them this childhood rite of having pets. With a simple nod of my head and a stroke of the pen....I am now sitting in my chair looking at this sooooooo cute puppy....wondering if I have just lost my marbles besides the $250.00 I paid?

You only live once, I guess. Grab it all while you can! Kids are great!

We always let the girls name the pets....Zeke is the name they chose...I don't know where that name came from....but it will stick I guess.

dogs take up lots of money. dacchy's arent that big (i think) but they will still eat there fair share of food, need to be walked, create a psychotic amount of fecal matter, all require insurance/vetinary bills (that breed has lots of hip dysplasia problems), immunisations, worming/flea spraying/washing, attention

lots of $$ in the future. if you got em then its cool, but if it might become an issue maybe you can sell em on before the kids get too attached.....might be something worth thinking about

how cool is it to have 4 puppys at once. it must be so fun playing with all of them and watching them discover things and watch you kids with them. must be nice to see every day

You can't give up a dog. That pisses me off so much, if you aren't going to care for it, don't buy it. My stupid bitch of an ex aunt (through marriage) keeps buying dogs and then gets sick of them when they "grow up" and gives them back to the pound or to someone else.

I have been trying but it seems I have an iMac and it sends the wrong kind of files so nobody can open them. Ain't that a kick in the balls! Story of my fucking life. Nothing ever works for me! When I plan something, I always double the cost because it never fails! Anyway, I'm going to try and see if somebody else with a Mac can post them!

I don't know why the eyes are blue. They look black to me. I swear...right now, he is laying on my wife's chest and it looks like he is breastfeeding. She does have clothes on though. Little Zeke doesn't know yet but those breasts are for me! Thanks everybody for your help.

their eyes are blue b/c the retina is more sensative to light than ours and it reflects different wavelengths back - humans reflect back red - most dogs do a yellow or blue, same with cats.
fomr frogs and aligators do a bright green.

My new apartment allows dogs! The first one I've lived in that does. I probably won't get one though since the rabbits are the queens of the house and they fight enough with each other. Although if there is a big scary dog they might turn to each other for comfort.

I swear to you as I type this....My wife is sitting in her recliner with Zeke and he's asleep and Max is next to her and he is not really laying down...he's kind of sitting there with his back to her. The fucker is pouting like shit. I just took them outside to use the bathroom and while Zeke was pissing, Max came running up to him and growling and Zeke stopped pissing. So he didn't finish! While Zeke was finding a place to piss....Max was running around the yard pissing on everything in sight....marking his space. I'm glad us guys don't do that.

This pet shop just opened about a month ago. It has all kinds of pets..especially exotic pets. They haven't even received any dogs yet. A local person had these dogs and agreed to let the pet shop sell them but no commission was given to the shop owner. I made the check out to the owner of these dogs so I know the pet shop didn't make anything. These dogs all looked healthy and had full documentation on them listing what shots they have laready had and when to schedule the next ones due. They are only 9 weeks old and really look good. I'm real leary of pet shops but felt better about everything once I talked to the owner of the store. He came with registration papers which were filled out so I believe the dog breeders seemed to appear real above board. I also know the breeders and the pet shop owners, if that makes any difference.


Get you another dog. I once said I would NEVER have a pet in my house because of the damage they can do. NEVER say NEVER!!!!! I have 2 dogs and a cat now.......oh the irony!

Day 2 and everything is still going good. He is in my lap right now sound asleep. Was told today that my other daschund(Max) might start pissing everywhere around the house to mark his territory. Can't wait until that happens. So far, the pup has pissed twice and crapped once in the house but it has been on the newspaper we put out so he could do that. I hope he will continue doing that until I can house train him. Only bad thing right now is "puppy breath!" Damn that stuff stinks! LOL!
