I made it through Hurricane Charlie

the eye passed within miles of my house, and the power of the hurricane was flat amazing. it just snapped power poles like twigs, even the big steal ones. I thought it was a exciting experiance to see in person, but the destruction it has caused is so sad. But the locals have really pulled together, no one goes hungry, resturants give out free food, stores have been givin free ice and water, and we got a thousonds of people from out of town down here cleaning up, and getting our power going, which i just got back yesterday. fun, mid 90's with 100% humidity. anyways, its been one hell of a crazy week. i got off lucky, nearly every house around me is way more screwed.

Happy to hear that u made it through. Also, it's good to see that people come together in a time of need. Good luck to all of u and godspeed.

Good to hear kingkong. My heart and prayers go out to you all in Florida. I vacationed on Sanibel this past June so I feel a connection to you all there. I have been reading of the grassroots effort by concerned citizens helping everybody out.

I went through Hurricane Hugo in 1989 so I know what the people of Florida are feeling. Time will heal all wounds from Charley. Things will be replaced or fixed. The bond you will have for your fellow man is an awe inspiring event.

As has been said before, Humans are at their best when things are worst. Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Outside of the South West Coastal barrier islands that got flattened..
(port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Sanibel)

Trees falling on power lines was the main issue across the state as I see it..
