You're so right girl. If I had to sit next to a guy like that on a long flight I would feel like I was trapped. Imagine if you're next to him and he has an aisle seat. You can't escape!

Fat people don't bother me. If I ever get stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere, I would want there to be a fat person around. They can keep me warm and if it came down to it, I'm sure they would be much tastier than a skinny person.


I do feel sorry for him, and if the only person he was crowding was his wife and she was willing to put up with it, then that's their business to deal with, not the airline's. If it was a stranger that had to deal with his excess fat then I could see why they should make him pay for another seat.

It's disheartening b'cuz it's discrimination and I don't like it. I chubbed up after 3 kids and have only regained my figure for the past 2 years and never reached "too obese" status... I feel bad for the "chub clubbers."

i do feel sorry for him in that they made it a problem for him to board he flight due to his weight....he wasnt inconviencing anyone and as southwest states there were a number of things they should have done but they didnt....so it is newsworthy in his case IMHO

You pay for your ticket, you are 'renting' 18 inches of seat space. You need more, you pay more. Like an apartment... you need more than 600 sq ft, then you rent a bigger place..which will cost more.
