I just told a telemarketer to stop calling me

Everyday when I come home and check the caller ID there are like 20 calls from the same number. A few minutes ago, the phone rang with that same number, I answered asked who they were and once they told me it was a long distance company trying to give me a ptich I said "I'm not interested, please stop calling here, you call too much!" I thought the guy was going to be irate but to my surprise he said "No problem I'll take you off our (something) list. It may up to 10 bussiness days, so if you receive another call from us during this time I appologize". Whoa! I'm gonna try that more often instead of just not answering.

Luckily this is not a serious problem in Europe. We get them about once every 6 months. Really only for a trial newspaper subscription.

I think I'd ask them if they felt they did useful work.

I think it's www.nationaldonotcall.org or look it up on Google. It's a Fed website where you log in your info & they don't call you....cool stuff....it can take a couple months to finally kick in, but it works!

I`m on the list and I have the Telezapper. It sorta stops computer generated calls from coming to your house and erases them from their database, or tells the computer your number is invalid so IT erases the # from the database.

I don`t get much calls except from people calling me directly locally or similar.

But one of those mini "air-horns" you see at football games and such,...when you see the number on the caller ID, pick it up and blow away. That should make for a nice laugh, and do the trick nicely. Funny stuff, a friend of mine who is the "real wise-ass" type pulls this shit all the time.
