I compliment people all the time I have no interest in on a personal level. Everyone needs a pick me up once in a while.
You just got to be careful with chicks. I told a girl once, to be nice, cause she asked, that she had pretty features (or some such) and would look great with her hair up to accentuate them. Her hair was a mess the way it was.. Then she did it, and showed me. And it got progressively more uncomfortable from there on.
