WTF? Didn’t they beg you to stay when you gave you notice? Anyway like you said now you can collect unemployment well you look for something better. From our talk in Ohio that company remind me way to much of the one I was at a few years ago and trust me you are way better off out of there.
 
Sucks to hear (and go thru) but change does have its positives. Now you do not have an excuse to find a new job, pursue a different calling. Take some time - crash out for a few weeks and relax. If you have a friend that can offer you a place to stay, take a vacation to sit and clear your head. Do not rush back to work just to be busy.
 
It's a blow when it first happens, but after awhile you realize it was the best thing.

I found out yesterday that my old boss (the WORST boss I'd ever had - the prick that fired me in Dec) is no longer at my old gym and they asked if I wanted to see the new PT manager about getting my old job back. Every single trainer that worked under the old asshole either quit or somehow got themselves fired as he made it impossible to stay by "inventing" policy. So the dude got demoted to PT in another club.

Anyways they wanted to know if I wanted to go back to work there. I entertained the thought for a split second.... NNNnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

Thanks everyone I am touched by the support I have recieved. I am checking in from my parents place I am up here doing some yardwork for them. Chainsaws are very theraputic if you haven't ever used one.LOL

I am doing great I have been sleeping a bunch and hitting the gym and catching up on some lost time. I am not sad at all to be away from that company. As some of you mentioned it is a bit strange that I resigned, they begged me to stay, created a new department for me, and then the owner fires me.

I am looking forward to the future so far I have been lucky enough in life that each fall has ended up in a big step forward after I picked myself up. I am going to take some time and relax and do some serious prep for my upcoming contest. My new log arrived the same day I got fired so it's like it was meant to be for training.LOL

I hope all of you are great and I will check in as I can. To those of you in similar situations I hope your job search goes smashingly well.

I got fired once, and it was a blessing! I was doing shitty work because I hated my job. They just put me out of my misery because I would have never quit on my own...lol.

Sometimes employers know this when they lay people off :) and the job loss is the best posible outcome for ALL parties.

No I never saw that post, after getting fired I didn't have access and missed it I guess. So nope didn't get to meet him this time, hopefully there will be another time in the near future.

If I had a bit more in the bank right now I would for sure. Until I figure some things out I am on a no spending agenda. Someday I will be there though.

They FIRED you, not Lay OFF? Many places if you get fired, will NOT pay unemployment. Our bosses work on trying to have you leave on your own achord or FIRE your ass so they don't have to pay severance or unemployment. Of course, once you are over 50 and have 20 + years in they become very careful of FIRING people so they make you misserable so you leave on your own.

Well, hope you get the unemployment checks and find a good job afterward. I'm in the field and don't think I could handle a day to day office or factory job. Good luck !

The reason they gave was that due to the corporate restructure I don't fit in anymore and they eliminated my job. So more of a lay off then firing, though that's just semantics.LOL
