FUCK bulking. Its been nearly 3 weeks, and i feel like shit. Being leaner and feeling more athletic is just 100x better. I just cannot commit to it at all, I actually like being thinner. what a disease!!
 
You can do it. Just think: means to an end .. if you want the size you gotta endure the pain of the bulk.

i hear you 100%. i just starting bulking for a couple weeks and my cheeks get fat and i cant stand the feeling of my abs going away. i had to cut the bulk short and get back to normal. good thing im not the only one that feels this way.
 
just think of the results that can occur. just get pumped up in your own way. you can DO IT!!!!
 
Ya, do what you like. I personally like bulking because my weights are constantly rising and I feel myself getting stronger and more powerful by the day practically, but there is fat gain with it, but also muscle.

It's like taking 2 steps forward and 1 back when you bulk, but you still make 1 progressive step forward because you should be bigger and stronger after you bulk and cut.
 
I'll never understand why some people want to be skinny and weak............I can say that cause I've been ripped, skinny, and weak for all too long...........anyone can do it...now to be ripped, big, and STRONG, is where my goals....come on bro.....get a grip.......its winter......you need the mass!
 
I agree with Jkurz. Cutting would be no problem for me. I was a bone rack when I began training. I just want size and strength now. I can cut up anytime. I want to accumulate a great deal of muscle and strength first, before even considering it. Unless I get injured bad, and have to train light. But that would be a last resort at this point.
 
I say there's no law that says you have to bulk. Do what makes you happy.

I'm the opposite of WB. I can bulk with about two days worth of meals, because I started out big framed and very overweight. I can put on size easily, but it's extremely difficult for me to lean out. I much prefer being as lean as I can be, but that still puts me at 215lbs or so, which is still pretty decent size.
 
yeah lean for me is around 198 at about 10-11% which i can walk around at and pretty much eat anything, i really want to shoot for 7% though, even though i know ill be weak and skinny
 
Ive done the bulking thing, and ive done the clean build.
My experience: muscle gains were huge while bulking, but i was also a useless 18% BF. Now im gaining at around 8% bf, and my muscle gains have been respectable, (a few pounds in 6 weeks) but the strength gains have been solid, actually better than the gains i made while bulking.

so you ca be lean and eat anything you want? but you cant bulk becuase you get fat? knda of an oxymoron there, no?

if you cant eat you migt as well hang it up now because you will never put on more size or get stronger unless you use a boatload of drugs and even that will come to a end without food
 
I have no problem gaining strength, i didnt say i get fat when i bulk, i said i "feel" fat and bloated. I dont like the way i look when i do. I also think i look better with a skinny sort of muscularity. What i meant was at 10-11% i can eat pizza and burn it off and stay lean. Im not hanging up anything, and also my goals are probably different than yours. Being above 12% doesnt appeal to me, and i also have other fitness goals such as a 5min mile and running sprints.
 
I'd just get better and faster at sprints if I were you. If you achieve your 5 minute mile I doubt you will even weigh 190lbs. I know from experience. A little running is great for ya. Sprints are the best imo if done at a reasonable intensity twice a week, not overdoing it or underdoing it. But running a 5 minute mile will shrink you down, believe it. Your body will want to shrink and drop weight to lesson the physical stress of running that fast for that length of time. I would bet most 4 milers are not even 160lbs and probably less than 150 on average unless they are fairly tall. And I doubt most guys running a 5minute mile are over 175lbs on average. There's always exceptions, but just be careful with all that running and end up burning too much muscle is all I'm saying.
 
I could run a 6 minute mile at 200lbs, but that EXTRA 45 seconds makes a BIG difference. Think about that. Are you willing to sacrifice more muscle to get there?
 
i enjoy bulking, like ghettostudmuffin said, i too reach my goals faster. they key is to eat alot of small meals, maybe youre eating too much at once and feel sluggish? i know that happens to me sometimes. no pain, no gain. good luck.

EVERYONE would look better at a lower bodyfat!!! i dont know how to train for sprinting but i would think bulking would not be a good idea when ur trying to break a sprinting record..choose one path and stick to it..either bulk or lean up
 
Im sorry bro... but your a sick sick man! :( My training partner has also caught your disease, he's obsessed with being lean. The thing you have to appreciate is a life and diet of iron should be used only for getting HUGE!! otherwise bad side effects can occur! :(

Serioulsy tho, its your choice man do whatever motivates you to get in shape and healthy! Personally i dont like being skinny... i dont like being fat, i like to be big, strong and ripped! :)

bulking diets have been strongly correlated with CV disease, so why people do all out bulks is beyond me.

do a clean mass diet. 400 grams protien, 200 carbs, 50 grams of fat. I did it and gained muscle while keeping by bf% at the exact same number.

I never bulk anymore, and never will again. why? I don't want to be fat, I like my abs, and I want to be healthy.
 
Bulk cleanly is what you SHOULD be doing..............no reason to gorge........

40-50g of protein, 50-75g of carbs and <10g of fat in every meal, 6 times a day then pre-bed get in 40-50g of casein and some healthy fats...........pretty simple. Make the food choices clean, but if you want a sub from subway, have it.....if you want a cookie, have it...allow yourself one cheat food a day.......then, in a few months, when all you have to do it lose 5-10lbs to etch yourself in, you nix all the shit and go at it...........

400 grams of pro without getting fat?
that amount of pro a day would make my stomach blow up from being overfull regardless of the fat it would add...

excess cals whether protein fat or carbs will make you fat its finding the right amount to turn into muscle without adding much fat..400 g or pro is too much if you weigh under 200lbs
 
FMEEEE..............FUUUUUUUU

I feel like such a bloated pig...lol....I havent done this for years and right now, it's not even that substantial of an increase (maybe 750 cals - 1k), but I feel so fat.......up 7 pounds in 14 days, probably 5 are water as my abs are getting blury, but appear thicker (more muscluar as Im hitting them weighted pretty hard....) but I see you point......I still do cardio daily, which helps my mental state, but its way down in terms of time.......damn!
