I have respect for the men who fought in WWII

Today's military is full of bullshit. Pencil-dicked paper-pushing Cant-cunt CO's only care about their rank and promotion. Don't give a flying fuck about their men. Now, it's all about politics not warriors.

Someone's been reading Richard Marcinko.

There were no millions of soldiers involved in the canadian and american intervention in WWII.

I could just see them shipping millions over. wasn`t it more like 200.000

WTF are you talking about? Over 4 million American men served between 1941 and 1945. 400,000 died.

Yep

Seriously....w/o America things would have very likely turned out quite differently.

my grandpa's b-day was yesturday. he's a WWII vet, and we were all just talking about how wonderful he his, and how much we thank him for fighting in that war....and he just broke down crying thkning about being back there(never seen him cry about it before) he has told me amazing stories, stories that would make you shit your pants, crazy stuff that happend to him, getting hooked in the shoulder with a meat hook. camping out in an old castles, just crazy shit during the war. i'm trying to get him to write it all down, the man just turned 79 years old.

it is amazing to look at him, and know that he was one of the first men into some of the concentration camps, and saw all that shit. think how fucked you'd be in the head....but he is perfectly normal. one of my best friends.

I think it was 115,000 split between fighting the Japs and Germany. I might be wrong but that is somewhat improbable.

Fast Twitch Fiber, weren't you going to join the army earlier???

Nope, you have me confused with someone else. I don't think they'd take me even if I wanted to, I'm a bit over age to start in that line of work.

..yeah thats more in line..I do know that the Soviets took more casualties in the 3 day battle for berlin than the US suffered in their entire European war effort..bottom line,Germany was defeated by the Soviets about 6-8 months before DDay and the actual landings in Europe(besides the Sicily/Italian campaign, which eventually became stagnated) just hastened Germany's defeat by 6-8 months..5 out of 6 german casualties were on the eastern front(85%+)..the eastern fornt was where WWII in europe was fought and decided..ALL the other stuff was just a side show..having said this..I do have the utmost respect for the western allies and the soviets who fought the germans...after all they were up against the most professionally skilled and efficient army of modern times..Imo the whermacht still can claim this through and including the war in Iraq..hell it wasn't until general blount aggressively pushed the US 3rd mechanized division into baghdad in the famed and decisive reconnaissance in force that I saw the US execute something on the level of the german's lightning early war conquests..an army(the Wehrmacht) that the US has studied intensely since the end of the second world war..just asks about NATO studies of the German Grossdeutschland's panzer division defense of Targal Frumo's in 1944..the germans had about ~150 tanks where as the attacking soviets had about 800..after the battle the soviets had lost 350 or so tanks and the german division had lost 10..fucking ten...NATO studied this to get clues on how to deal with waves and waves of overwhelming numbers of warsaw pact armor
