I Have Discovered Something Better Than Flax Oil For A Fraction Of The Price.

I just started using the fish oil capsules as well. However, they don't have any appreciable calories in them obviously. Wouldn't you still want to use the flax oil to get the fat content??

Cod liver oil has fat content in it.

exactly....14 gels equals one tbsp of flax oil for fat content. i use like 3-4 tbsp a day....so that is like 50 some odd gelcaps. bump that shit. i'll just pour the flax oil into the protein shake thank you! although i used to take 10 gelcaps of fish oil before bed in addition to the flax since the fish oil is supposed to have some things the flax does not.

yeah, but most use the softgels since it tastes like ass. flax tastes bad....but mix it in protein shakes and its non-existant...cod liver oil taste like shit no matter what.

Flax oil is worthless. The omega-3 content is short-chain omega-3s; your body only processes long-chain omega-3s. Short-chain omega-3s can be converted with great difficulty by the body to long-chain, but at only a 1 to 5 percent efficiency. Take what you think you are getting in flax omega-3s and then take 1 to 5 percent of it -- that's what you are actually getting.

That said, flax powder (not oil) is useful for it's crude fiber content and crude protein content, but nothing more.

Fish oil is what is actually studied and shows benefits in terms of Omega-3s. Cod liver oil is not a good source because it is relatively contaminated as the liver is filtration for the fish body.

You want a fish oil that is PCBB-free and is distilled from the body, not the head or liver. Health from the Sun makes a great, certified product and it only runs about $7 bottle.

Calorie-wise, it's all fat, all 9 cal/gram.

I take fish oil caps with me in my backpack everywhere I go so when I don't have access to my liquid flax I use it. Fish oil burps will ruin your life though, they are fierce. By the tablespoon is more efficient in my book though. It's pretty cheap really.
