The United States should switch to nuclear energy and electric cars and mass transit. Then rely on our own oil for all other petroleum products, plastics, textiles, chemicals, etc. Then pull all of our troops home from everywere and stop buying foriegn oil altogather. Then watch the global economy fall through the fucking floor and just take care of ourselves for the next 25 years as the world population decreses due to war and famine. Oh and we should stop selling agricultural products too. Then lets see how well the world does without us. PIN FOR PRESIDENT!!!

Little problem with nuclear energy ... nuclear waste. Not like you can exactly toss the shit into some landfill and I don't know about you but I get seriously uncomfortable when I think of the possibility of turning the home of future generations into a toxic dump.

I don't know why auto manufacturers haven't switched over to those hybrid bio fuels, those would benefit the economy AND benefit agriculture.

Yeah, I think in the past the electrics were very slow and couldn't go very far. I would love to see them become popular now, though. Ethanol is a good option, too.

Most nuclear fuels (ie uraniun) are naturally occuring and found in mines. It is then enriched. Neutrons are packed into it to increase atomic mass. Then during nuclear fusion the uraniun is then depleted. So it doesn't really matter. The stuff is around in underground chambers anyway. Just put it back into the ground in sealed lead containers or shoot it into space. Plus nuclear fuel is a lot cleaner and safer than it was in the 70's and 80's.

But my poit was that everybody bitches about the US, so lets see what sort of chaotic carnage the world would face if we suddenly altogather disapeared from the global scene.
