yeah, i believe you are correct. there is always "uncooked" and "cooked" listings for say rice and what not.
 
I got into it wityh a buddy and I wanted to verify this:

When counting Protein Grams:

Let's say on the package label, it says 4ounces = 20 grams of protein (or whatever).

Is this BEFORE it's cooked or after. There IS a big difference (esp with red meat and chicked cause the water weight and fat weight that gets cooked OFF).

I ASSUME it's before!?!!?!? Right????

Yeah, the nutrional information is always based on how it comes in the package. In the case of rice it is uncooked.
 
i dont think anybody in the right mind is gonna eat uncooked rice so my guess is that the nutritional values are based on cooked rice.

sorry bro, but your wrong. look it up on http://www.calorieking.com/ under rice..............raw #'s and cooked #'s. they list EVERYTHING on packs (unless specified cooked) as UNCOOKED.
 
also, there are "raw" and "broiled" and what not listings for meat products. i looked up lamb. :D lol.
 
satch, no, if he is looking on a package of uncooked rice the values are for the uncooked rice. You have to measure it out and then cook it, but the pre-cooked measurements are what is being refered too on the label.
 
So how do you know how much you're consuming exactly after you cook the rice or pasta? etc....
Are the values way off after the food is cooked?
