Look in your power options in control panel and click the "GO BALLS OUT" box.

look in your power options manager (likely an icon in the lower right), and adjust screen brightness for when it's plugged in and unplugged to whatever you desire. the dimmer setting for unplugged (running on battery) will save you power.

seems cockeyed that they'd set it up to be bright when mobile, and dim when plugged in. if you meant the other way around, then it's fine
